Adin Ross is no stranger to manufacturing moments on stream, having been part of quite a few topics of discussion — good and bad — across his streaming career. His latest attempt to get the internet world talking involved an "interview" with none other than the supreme leader of North Korea himself, Kim Jong Un, and although it came with an expected twist, the broadcast shattered Kick's peak concurrent viewership record.
After spending days teasing the so-called interview with the reclusive politician, the former Twitch star finally came true on his word, promising fans a hard-hitting exchange on September 20. What caught the attention of the online community was the fact that Kim Jong Un rarely gives interviews in his own homeland, let alone foreign media, specifically the US, so users were intrigued to see what was in store, and that was all it took to leave a mark.
Adin Ross' "interview" with the leader of the Workers' Party of Korea gained an incredible 333K Peak Viewers, breaking the previous record set by therealmoisesb by a whopping 26.9%. The latter’s real name is Moises Bournigal and he is an American TV actor who "films in big TV studio sets in Hollywood and uses CGI and special audio equipment to enhance the show for fans' entertainment."
Getting back to the record-breaking stream, Adin Ross hired a professional impersonator, Howard X, from Cameo, a site where users can employ actors to say personalized messages. After exchanging a few questions and answers, the host invited Andrew Tate to the broadcast, including the supposed North Korean leader in the now three-way chat.
As expected, once the reveal of Howard X as Kim Jong Un was done, the viewership steadily declined across the remainder of the stream, but not before easily surpassing the previous peak viewership record. It again has to be reiterated that the real Kim Jong Un rarely interacts with the media, especially avoiding foreign journalists.
The 39-year-old's one and only interview with media from outside his home country was with the Russian news channel, Rossiya-24, in 2019. It was basically a short statement he gave during a visit to the country, and the Supreme Leader has never sat down for a one-on-one interview with the American media.
