The Tokyo Game Show 2023 is almost here, with the gathering set to emanate from the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan, on September 21. This year's edition is apparently the biggest yet, with video game companies like Microsoft, SEGA/Atlus, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, and HoyoVerse unveiling the latest news about their upcoming games or revealing information on brand-new ones.
For those unaware, the TGS is a video game trade fair and convention held annually in the Land of the Rising Sun. Presented by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc, its main focus is Japanese games. However, a few international video game developers also appear to showcase and promote their upcoming releases/related hardware.
The event's duration is four days, with the first two days open only to industry attendees (business); the general public can attend the last two days. The Sense of Wonder Night (SOWN) presentation session will also be held, showcasing innovative and experimental computer games mostly created by minor indie game studios and independent game developers worldwide.

Last year's iteration was able to hit 41.4K Hours Watched and 3.4K Peak Viewers on the official Japanese channel. There were updates, interviews, announcements, and other new reveals about some of the highest-profile games that Japanese developers and other studios around the world were coming up with.
Some of the important happenings coming out of this show include a proper reveal for Tekken 8, a full launch day roster disclosure for Street Fighter 6, more details on the Resident Evil Village DLC, Shadows of Rose, a name change for future localized versions of the Yakuza games, and more details on boss fights in Sega's Sonic Frontiers.
So far this year, the most successful video game showcase has been the Summer Game Fest 2023, which did 4.3 HW. While Tokyo Game Show editions normally do not hit such high numbers, the organizers will hope that it will end as the most successful iteration so far, lending credence to its claim that it'll be the biggest yet.
