Audience analysis of Ibai's record-breaking stream

Audience analysis of Ibai's record-breaking stream
Share:

Over the weekend, Spanish streamer Ibai Ibai Llanos set a new Twitch record by Peak Viewers. During the boxing event La Velada Del Año II, his channel was visited by more than 3.3M Peak Viewers. Streams Charts has analyzed the audience of Ibai's record broadcast and hurries to share the details in the new article.

La Velada Del Año II Viewership stats

In total, Ibai’s broadcast of the boxing event was attended by more than 6.1M unique viewers. At the same time, the number of unique viewers authorized on Twitch amounted to about 3.8M. 59% of them didn't visit the streamer's channel in the last 30 days before the start of the record-breaking broadcast, and more than 23% of the audience did not watch Twitch at all during this period. Note that almost all authorized viewers of the event have been registered on the streaming platform for more than three months.

While analyzing the online audience boxing event, we identified ten channels from which Ibai’s record-breaking stream received the most viewers. Approximately 2.4% of the total audience of the broadcast of the La Velada Del Año II event came from the channel of the Hispanic streamer rivers_gg. Another 1.6% came from the primevideoes channel, which covered one of the participants of the boxing event that evening: Alberto JaggerPrincesa Redondo.

Streamers el_yuste and xXxTheFocuSxXx awaited and discussed the upcoming La Velada Del Año II while playing and chatting with the audience. Coming from them to the broadcast of Ibai were 1.2% and 1.1% of the total viewers of the record-breaking stream. Also, 0.77% to 0.51% of the viewers of the broadcast of Ibai came from the channels of polispol1, lvpes, amouranth, peereira7, sirolopez56, and staryuuki.

Curiously, the only non-Hispanic creator out of the top 10 was Amouranth, as on that day her broadcast took place in a swimming pool and had nothing to do with La Velada Del Año II. It is also noteworthy that quite a lot of viewers came from the LVPes esports channel, where LEC Summer 2022 matches were played before and during the record-breaking broadcast of Ibai.

While analyzing the audience of the La Velada Del Año II broadcast, we also paid attention to which categories the viewers of the record stream were most interested in over the past 30 days. It turned out that almost 65% of the audience watched broadcasts in the Just Chatting category, 36.8% attended Minecraft streams, 36% followed Special Events, 27.7% were interested in Valorant, and 24% spent their time in the Sports category. This is not surprising, since popular Hispanic creators (including Ibai himself) often broadcast in these categories.

We also determined which streamers the authorized viewers have watched in the past 30 days. It turned out that more than 30% of them visited the auronplay channel, 24% followed the creativity of Rubius, and 18% to 20% watched the broadcasts of aXoZer, juansguarnizo, and TheGrefg. Top Hispanic streamers often resort to cooperative activities, so such a large audience overlap is not surprising.

Note that the top 5 includes only Hispanic creators. The leader among non-Spanish channels was Amouranth, with 7.8% of viewers of the record-breaking Ibai stream attending her broadcasts. Nearly 3.3% of the audience watched the streams of Taylor_Jevaux, a girl who, like Amouranth, streams in the “Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches” and “Just Chatting” categories. Just over 3% of the viewers of Ibai's record-breaking stream also belonged to the audience of xQc.

Another representative of the “Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches” and “Just Chatting” categories in the top was the Russian streamer evaanna, who was watched by just under 3% of Ibai's Peak Viewers. In the last 30 days before the start of the Spaniard's record-breaking broadcast, approximately 2% of its viewers visited the official English-language Valorant channel, which covered the matches of VCT 2022: Stage 2 Challengers.

A total of 84 channels hosted the broadcast of Ibai. Primevideoes brought 27.5K viewers to the stream of the boxing event, 12.2K viewers came along with el_yuste, while xXxTheFocuSxXx brought another 8.3K viewers. Also found among the top 5 channels that hosted Ibai on June 25 are Peereira7 and, curiously, Taiwanese streamer kr1stw, who often plays on GTA V RP servers.

At the same time, only four channels raided the channel of Ibai during the record-breaking broadcast. The same top 3 represented by Primevideoes, el_yuste, and xXxTheFocuSxXx sent more than 32K viewers to the stream of the boxing event. Also, Spanish content creator and journalist quesadacid brought additional 763 viewers to Ibai’s broadcast.

In total, during the record-breaking stream, the number of followers of Ibai increased by 396.9K people. At the same time, the number of paid subscribers increased by 37.4K - 15.8% of them were repeated subscriptions, and 2.9% were gift subscriptions.

When calculating paid subscriptions, we use our own method, hence the numbers may not match the real values.

It should be noted that the share of Prime subscriptions to Ibai during the record stream was more than 61%, the share of Tier-1 subscriptions was 38.5%, and Tier-2 and Tier-3 subscriptions were issued only a few times. In total, Ibai earned from $68.1K to $93.4K per stream off paid subscriptions, depending on the regions where subscriptions were made.

We also looked at the duration of time spent by the authorized unique viewers on the record-breaking broadcast of Ibai. It turned out that almost 50% of the audience who watched the Spaniard's streams within 30 days before the start of the boxing event spent 0-20 minutes on the record-breaking broadcast itself. 2.3% of the audience stayed from one to two hours, and only eleven people watched the stream for more than 2 hours.

In turn, viewers who did not watch Ibai in the last 30 days before the start of the boxing event spent even less time on average on the record-breaking broadcast. More than 72% of the audience spent 0-20 minutes on the stream, and a little less than 6% of viewers watched the broadcast for 41-60 minutes. At the same time, no one from this category of viewers managed to stay on Ibai’s steam for more than 2 hours.

The overall unity of the Hispanic community on Twitch is commendable. Many of the region’s top creators did not even start streaming on the day of La Velada Del Año II, so as not to divide the audience. And those who launched their streams either hosted or raided Ibai during the start of his broadcast. All of this, combined with the scale of the event and its celebrity attendees, helped Ibai amass a record-breaking number of Peak Viewers on Twitch.
