Asmongold leaves Mythic Talent: Controversy, Grimmi allegations & financial scandals explained

Asmongold leaves Mythic Talent: Controversy, Grimmi allegations & financial scandals explained
Share:

The streaming world was rocked this week as Zack "Asmongold" Hoyt officially parted ways with Mythic Talent, the talent agency he helped co-found in 2023. The departure comes at a chaotic time for the firm, which is currently juggling a PR firestorm involving incendiary political comments and serious allegations of financial mismanagement from other creators.

Sudden departure of co-founder Asmongold

In a brief statement posted to their official social media accounts, Mythic Talent confirmed the split, stating they "mutually agreed to part ways" with their most recognizable star. While the statement was light on specifics, it emphasized a commitment to respect and responsibility, a choice of words many believe is a direct nod to the recent controversies surrounding Hoyt.

Asmongold has long been known for causing drama online, but his role as a co-founder makes this exit particularly significant. For an agency to lose its primary architect and most popular creator suggests a fundamental breakdown in the brand's vision.

Asmongold's school bombing remarks controversy

While Mythic's statement didn't cite a specific incident, the timing points toward a recent firestorm involving Hoyt's comments on US military actions. Earlier in the week, the Twitch star drew intense criticism for remarks regarding the bombing of a girl's elementary school during US airstrikes in Iran — an attack reported to have claimed over 150 civilian lives.

Asmon's refusal to be emotionally blackmailed over the event sparked immediate backlash, even among audiences accustomed to his "anti-woke" rhetoric. With public sentiment turning against military escalations in 2026, the comments proved to be a bridge too far for an agency trying to maintain a "sustainable, long-term" environment for its diverse roster of VTubers and content creators.

Mythic Talent under fire: Grimmi's financial allegation

The exit of Asmongold, also known as ZackRawrr, isn't the only fire Mythic is trying to put out. Grimmi, a prominent VTuber managed by the firm, has publicly accused Mythic of skimming funds from her sponsorship campaigns.

The allegations include:

  • Inconsistent payouts: Claims that checks did not match contractual agreements.
  • Missing revenue: Hundreds of dollars allegedly withheld from activations.
  • Lack of transparency: Allegations that the agency pocketed money meant for the creator.

Mythic has since denied these claims, stating that their records show Grimmi was paid in full, but the accusations have added fuel to the narrative that the agency is in a state of internal collapse.

Impact on creator economy: A cautionary tale

The fall of the Asmongold-Mythic partnership is a cautionary tale for the 2026 streaming landscape. It highlights the growing tension between edgy creator brands and the corporate responsibility required to run a multi-million dollar agency.

As advertisers become more selective about where they place their budgets, agencies like Mythic are finding it impossible to protect brand-risk creators — even when those creators own the company.

Future of Mythic Talent and its creator roster

With the departure of co-founder and figurehead Asmongold, the industry is asking one question: Is Mythic Talent still a safe harbor for creators? While the agency continues to manage a massive roster of over 150 streamers, the recent financial skimming allegations from VTuber Grimmi and the fallout from Asmongold's controversial remarks have put every remaining creator under the microscope.

Here is a breakdown of who is still holding the line — and who might be next to leave.

Who are the heavy hitters still at Mythic Talent?

Despite the recent turmoil, Mythic still retains some of the biggest names on Twitch. These "heavy hitters" represent the agency's remaining leverage with sponsors:

  • CaseOh: Currently one of the fastest-growing variety streamers on the platform. Case "CaseOh" Baker's presence is vital for Mythic's continued relevance in the mainstream gaming space.
  • The OTK Core: Since Mythic was born from the One True King (OTK) ecosystem, the core members remain the bedrock of the agency. The departure of names like Chance "sodapoppin" Morris, EsfandTVVincent "Cyr" Cyr and Nick "Nmplol" Polom would likely signal the end of the company.
  • Top variety & ARPG talent: Names like Kjetil "Zizaran", Quintin "Quin69" Crawford, and fubgun remain on the roster, providing a steady stream of hardcore gaming hours that appeal to niche endemic sponsors.

Recent high-profile departures from Mythic Talent

Asmongold isn't the only name missing from the current roster. Over the last several months — and intensified by the Grimmi scandal — several notable creators have quietly or loudly exited:

  • Grimmi (The Whistleblower): Following her detailed allegations of missing sponsorship funds, Grimmi has officially moved to independent management.
  • Filian: One of the most prominent Virtual YouTubers on the platform, the departure of Filian earlier this year was a significant blow to Mythic's "Mythos" (VTuber-focused) division.
  • Recent "silent" exits: Fans have noted that creators like Shondo (Fallen Shadow), Nux Taku, and Saiiren are no longer listed on the agency's official talent page, leading to speculation about "quiet quitting" within the management firm.

Why the OTK safety net is fraying for creators

Historically, Mythic Talent has been seen as a way for OTK members to secure premium sponsorships for themselves and their peers. However, with Mizkif and now Asmongold being distanced from the agency due to various PR firestorms, that safety net is under immense pressure.

With its army of almost 120 creators, Mythic has been among the most-watched Twitch teams since 2023, when it was founded in partnership with OTK  With its army of almost 120 creators, Mythic has been among the most-watched Twitch teams since 2023, when it was founded in partnership with OTK

For the smaller "middle-class" streamers at Mythic, the risk is twofold, starting with brand guilt by association. Advertisers may pull away from the entire agency to avoid the controversies surrounding its founders. There is also the factor of financial trust, as the Grimmi allegations have made creators wary of their own payouts. Many are reportedly auditing their 2025 and 2026 sponsorship contracts to ensure they weren't also skimmed.

While the likes of Emily "ExtraEmily" Zhang and Knut "Knut" Spildrejorde remain two of the most active IRL streamers in the OTK sphere, their decision to stay or move to a new agency will be a major indicator of Mythic's internal health in Q2 2026. For now, the agency will be looking to do all it can to alleviate any fears within its massive roster of streamers and assure them that the agency is still crucial to their future successes.
