DjMaRiiO’s series of exhibition football games — Partidazo de Youtubers — pitting some of the most followed streamers from their respective countries has become pretty popular, with fans waiting to see their favorite online stars in action as they battle on the pitch to make a difference off it. The latest such match pitted big Spanish and Latin American names from the industry against each other, with the broadcast helping the star YouTuber enter the top ten most popular channels on the red platform for 2023.
The exhibition game between a side led by DjMaRiiO and an amalgamation of internet personalities from Latin America was held on June 24 at the Ciutat de Valencia Stadium. It is the home stadium of Levante UD, who played in the La Liga till the 2021/22 season. The home side came out as 5-2 winners, with the stream doing much better than the previous match in the series across metrics when only looking at his channel.
The game, dubbed Partidazo de Youtubers 4, recorded 3.1M Hours Watched, 1.08M Peak Viewers, and 581K Average Viewers over an airtime of five hours and 20 minutes. The peak popularity of the broadcast was reached somewhere around its midway point, which is when the Spanish side ended up scoring the first goal in the match through Llobeti, who is part of the content creation team at ZETA Gaming.
It did much better than Partidazo de Youtubers 3, which saw content creators from France and Spain duke it out at the Stade Jean-Bouin, with the former asserting their dominance with a 2-0 win. 2023’s game did 95%, 75.6%, and 73.6% better in terms of the number of watchers when only looking at DjMaRiiO’s YouTube channel. Overall, however, the third edition in the series hit 5.1M HW, 1.7M PV, and 1M AV as aminematue also streamed it on his Twitch account.
Of course, with the entire Latin American region being represented by its content creators in a game against a perceived rival in footballing terms, the viewership stats were always going to be higher this time. Also, there might not be a more passionate footballing fanbase than those found in this region, so coupling this fact with the chance to watch their favorite broadcasters in action meant that the audience numbers soared.
Most importantly, DjMaRiiO’s streaming of the match helped him make the top ten of the most popular channels on YouTube Live. Leading the line, unsurprisingly, was CazéTV with his broadcast of the Vasco versus Flamengo game, a second-leg affair from the semifinal of the Carioca Championship.
This list has only two individual channels, and intriguingly, both made it based on their broadcasts of sports events. Four of these handles were from Europe, while the US, Asia, and South America accounted for two each. To be noted is that a OnePlus India stream for the launch event of its Nord model — labeled Larger Than Life — did 9.41M Peak Viewers, but it was a premier broadcast and not a classic live broadcast, so it has been excluded from the above ranking.
For those wondering, the first edition of this series was played in the Santiago Bernabéu in July 2019. DjMaRiiO and TheGrefg formed two teams of streamers, YouTubers, influencers, and sports journalists, with the latter's side winning 5-4.
The second match — under the same captains — took place after the pandemic in Estadio La Romareda, home to another former La Liga side, Real Zaragoza. TheGrefg came out once again in another hard-fought encounter, with the game ending 4-4 in normal time and his team winning on penalties.
