The Game Awards (TGA) is returning for its 2025 edition to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11. The awards show is set to be one of the most anticipated events of the year for the gaming industry, bringing together top figures to celebrate the best achievements. Hosted by Canadian games journalist Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards 2025 has 30 categories and over 100 nominees; Streams Charts breaks down the most important information on nominees, the broadcast, and how to watch the award show.
As usual, TGA will be broadcast on livestreaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube Live. However, for the first time, the award show will also be streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Announced earlier this year, The Game Awards partnered with Amazon to host a dedicated shop for the event and offer Prime-exclusive deals for viewers throughout the stream. The partnership could see the viewership of the series suffer on traditional livestreaming platforms, but also be extremely lucrative for both the awards show and Amazon.
With Amazon Prime a new, fresh offering for viewers of The Game Awards this year, Twitch isn’t to be outdone. The purple platform will broadcast the awards show in 2K (1440p) for the first time, and also includes Twitch Drops activations to entice viewers and a special TGA chat badge on the site for users who view the show for more than 30 minutes.

Last year, held at the same venue, The Game Awards 2024 marked the 11th edition of the show, and made headlines for its record-breaking viewership and thorough coverage from the gaming community and creators. In total, just under 1500 total livestreaming channels tuned in and broadcast the event, including both official channels and third-party co-streamers.
According to our data, the event accumulated over 15.3M Hours Watched, up 14.5% from the previous year and setting a new record for the ceremony. Across all platforms and co-streamers, the event received a peak concurrent viewership of over 4M gaming fans.

On the awards front of The Game Awards 2024, Astro Bot was the big winner, taking home the Game of the Year award, as well as wins in three other categories. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth received the most nominations (7), but ultimately, only took home an award in the Best Score and Music category. Balatro was a surprise entry for many, but ended up taking home three awards (Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Mobile Game), more awards than many AAA titles, including Black Myth: Wukong (2).
Beyond the awards, the 2024 show featured major announcements, including Elden Ring: Nightreign, an co-op follow-up to Elden Ring, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, an upcoming title by Naughtydog, and the highly anticipated reveal of The Witcher 4 by CD Projekt Red. Keep an eye on The Game Awards 2025 for the latest updates and announcements in the gaming industry.
