On April 14, Twitch announced on their Twitter that it had discovered over 7.5 million accounts that used bots to increase viewers and followers on their channels.
The platform warned that in the coming days, streamers would have sharp followers decrease because of the abnormal activity. Streams Charts analyzed which content makers on Twitch have lost the most followers over the past week.
When compiling the rating, we considered the channels with >500 average viewers over the last month. This is done to exclude completely fake accounts and evaluate the effect of cheating on really popular streamers.
Sodapoppin suffered the most from the wipe. In a week, he lost 3.1 million subscribers (half of his total number). At the same time, such a loss did not particularly affect the Chance Morris’ Hours Watched. Compared to April 1-7, this week, his HW rose by 200k and exceeded a million.
The number of xQc subscribers decreased by 2.6 million. At the same time, his Hours Watched fell by 1.2 million over the last week, but the number of Average Viewers increased by two thousand, although he streamed 15 hours less.
The removal of bots also affected such popular streamers as shroud, Ninja, F1NN5TER and others, but did not affect their statistics. For example, LosPollosTV lost 56% of his followers, but his Hours Watched grew by 40K for April 8-14 compared to the previous week.
