Cologne, Germany is the stage for Gamescom 2022, the largest gaming event in the world, now that E3 2022 was canceled. Every year Gamescom receives some of the biggest names in the video games industry and is also a great place for people of that same industry to network.
Some of the biggest games of the year are revealed at Gamescom 2022, allowing us to have a sneak peek at some of the most anticipated games of 2022 and 2023. A lot of official video game trailers are also launched during the event, as well as some new DLCs or updates for already existing titles.
More than 500 companies have registered to take part in the event, with some big names like Ubisoft, Xbox, Warner Bros, Sega, 2K Games, Bandai Namco, 505 Games, Samsung, AMD, and others being present in the event.
Unfortunately, Sony, Nintendo, and other big publishers won't be attending the event. But despite that Gamescom 2022 is still a very stacked event.
For those who are mainly attending Gamescom 2022 for networking, they have the Gamescom Business Area, an area designated for professionals around the industry to network. Allowing people to build new relations in the video games industry, and also share their thoughts and ideas with each other.
There are a lot of games or franchises that fans are eager to see, or at least have an update on. Titles like Assassin's Creed Infinity, Dead Island 2, Sonic Frontiers, Hogwarts Legacy, or The Callisto Protocol, are some of the titles fans are looking forward to. Some might received a full trailer, others a sneak peek. Just a small update on how the work in the game is unfolding, and in some cases even a concrete release date for the game.
Gamescom 2022 Schedule:
- Devcom (August 22-23). An event focused on game development, publishing, and also networking.
- Opening Night Live (August 23). The opening night is where a lot of games will be announced, trailers revealed, and release dates announced.
- Business Area (August 24-26) It's also a space for people to network, but this one is exclusive to professionals.
- Gamescom Congress (August 25). The Gamescom congress is a conference that will talk about the impact of video games on our society, the economy, and many other topics.
- Gamescom Entertainment Area (August 25-28). In this area, the people attending the event will have a chance to play a vast list of new games. It will also have events hosted by companies like AMD, ESL Gaming, and Funcom.
- Gamescom Event Arena (August 25-28). Companies will be hosting their own events on the biggest stage at Gamescom 2022.
- Gamescom City Festival (August 26-28). People attending Gamescom 2022, will be able to experience live concerts on two different stages.
