Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed have finally completed their hardcore Minecraft marathon. One of today’s most dynamic streaming duos spent over 105 hours and 42 attempts to defeat the Ender Dragon.
Both streamers broadcasted their gameplay on their respective channels, Kai Cenat on Twitch and IShowSpeed on YouTube. Throughout the marathon, they were in the same house, which was specially decorated to resemble the game. The rules required them to stream continuously until they defeated the Ender Dragon, with any character death resetting their progress and forcing them to start over.
The marathon turned out to be a grueling challenge for Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, achieving their goal was far more difficult than they had anticipated. The high-energy streamers faced considerable stress and frequently argued, particularly when they were on the brink of victory but died due to minor errors. While their joint playthrough of Chained Together took less than 12 hours, their Minecraft marathon stretched to over 105 hours.
Top streamers frequently collaborate on joint broadcasts, but few last as long as the marathon between Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed. This event was exceptional, as these star streamers from Twitch and YouTube managed to rack up more watch time than some of the biggest show events and esports tournaments.
The Minecraft marathon amassed over 18.8 million Hours Watched across both channels. This impressive figure surpasses the viewership of the first Twitch Rivals Squid Craft Games ft. Komanche, which featured numerous top Minecraft streamers. By defeating the Ender Dragon, Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed achieved a viewership total comparable to all broadcasts of LEC Summer 2024 combined and nearly twice that of LCS Spring 2024. This level of viewership rivals that of top esports tournaments, which often include community casting and broadcasts in multiple languages worldwide.
The five-day marathon drew a larger audience than events such as IEM Dallas 2024, PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024, ALGS: 2024 Split 1 Playoffs, and Call of Duty League 2024 Playoffs. It also outperformed notable events like Kings League Santander 2024 and the speedrun marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2024.
At its peak, Kai Cenat’s channel reached 381,200 viewers, marking the fifth-highest peak viewership in his streaming history. Meanwhile, IShowSpeed’s channel attracted over 351,900 viewers at its peak, making it the second most-watched broadcast of his career. These peak numbers were recorded on the final day of the marathon, just before its conclusion. Notably, during this stream, IShowSpeed’s channel surpassed 28 million subscribers.
