La Velada del Año becomes a Netflix exclusive for three years as Ibai retains ownership
Netflix has secured exclusive broadcast rights to the next three editions of La Velada del Año, the boxing show featuring content creators. Event organizer Ibai Llanos said the agreement covers the seventh, eighth, and ninth editions. He remains the project’s sole owner.
“I haven’t sold La Velada del Año. I still own 100% of it. What I have sold are the broadcast rights — something I previously did with Twitch for several years,”
- Ibai.
According to the streamer, Netflix will not only pay for the rights but also invest directly in production, advertising, fights, and musical performances. The platform has also guaranteed him complete creative freedom and control over decisions.
The exclusivity will apply to the main show. The participant reveal, boxer interviews, and weigh-in will continue to stream on Ibai’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
Ibai has already nearly finalized five fights for La Velada del Año VII, all featuring popular content creators. He also expects the three-year Netflix agreement to be extended for another year, through the tenth edition, although that extension has not yet been confirmed.
Ibai added that he has been receiving substantial offers from television networks and streaming platforms since the second edition of La Velada.
