With a little more than half the year done, there were lots of rankings published by various outlets, including Streams Charts, about which streamers shone the brightest in H1/Q2 2024. As usual, names like Kai Cenat, Gaules, and xQc popped up near the top of lists talking about the most watched influencers, which would not have surprised too many readers.
Many expected the status quo to remain the same in the second half of the year, but one content creator seems to have taken on the challenge of making sure these leaderboards include him come December. Loud_coringa, the second-most followed Portuguese-speaking broadcaster on Twitch (5.6M), recently went on a week-long live-streaming spree that catapulted him to the top of the Twitch charts, with one upload ending atop his all-time Hours Watched ranking.
The Brazilian superstar's last four live streams have also made him the most-watched creator on the purple platform over the last week. He is the only one to have crossed the 3 million HW mark during this phase, with the next-best online channel — BLASTPremier — lagging by a significant 24.3%.
The first of these broadcasts, on Day 1 of his extended streaming challenge, netted a massive 1.7M HW, making it his best by this metric by a distance. In fact, only two other single streams have passed the 1M HW milestone, with one coming in September 2022 and the other in June 2021.
Asked why he decided to go through this seven-day challenge, Coringa told Streams Charts:
"It was something I had never done before, and since I am driven by challenges, I decided to act on the idea."
The challenge, which ended after he streamed for around 106 hours and 25 minutes, also made him the top Just Chatting content creator between July 30 and August 5. His 3.36M HW was 103.2% more than the next-best internet star, the American-Turkish political commentator HasanAbi.
Moreover, the 129.1K Peak Viewers that the Day 1 live-stream reached put him in third on the purple platforms leaderboard for the same timeframe, with only Kai Cenat ahead of the Brazilian star. These are quite some impressive numbers for someone who is now among the 20 most-watched Twitch streamers so far this year.
With the challenge over and putting him top of the Amazon-owned streaming services charts, Coringa noted that it was an accomplishment for the entire country:
"It's an accomplishment not just for my career but also for the streaming industry here in Brazil. And none of this would be possible without all my people involved."
During this challenge, most of his content was IRL streaming as he had lots of his friends come over and play games and hang out, much to the amusement of his audience. The LOUD member also played games like Among Us, Valorant, and Grand Theft Auto V apart from live broadcasting himself sleeping.
For those not in the know, Coringa is known for his Garena Free Fire and GTA RP gameplay videos. His early career as a pro in the battle royale mobile esports shooter helped him become famous, while his recent dalliances with the roleplay component of Rockstar Games' legendary offering has helped him become one of Brazil's top creators, with his YouTube channel enjoying an equally impressive 6.99M subscribers.
He was also the third-most watched streamer from Brazil in Q2, 2024, while he finished fifth on the same list for the entirety of last year. Whether he can maintain such numbers this year remains to be seen, but more such activities where he can engage a larger number of viewers than usual will help make that possible.
