Ludwig, one of the biggest streams in the world, announced his fourth Super Smash Bros tournament. The event will be called Ludwig Smash Invitational, and is going to have a $60K prize pool.
It's no surprise that Ludwig loves Super Smash Bros, and has said multiple times he wants to continue to create new events for the fighting game. The streamer has participated in many tournaments of Super Smash Bros since 2015, and has also commentated on many Melee tournaments, such as GENESIS 6 and Smash the Record 2017.
He already had a Super Smash Bros tournament series called Ludwig Ahgren Championship. But the prize pool of the Ludwig Smash Invitational is more than double the prize pool of all the editions of the Ludwig Ahgren Championship.
Super Smash Bros tournament's prize pools are notorious for being very small, and that is something the community has been complaining about for a long time. Ludwig is a big Super Smash Bros fan, and has always tried to help the community, by creating multiple tournaments, with way above-average prize pools.
With this Ludwig shows that he is fulfilling his promise of organizing the biggest Super Smash Bros event ever. The tournament will have the best 32 Melee players, and the 32 best Ultimate players. Melle players will compete for $30K, while the Ultimate players will compete for the remaining $30K.
It will have a Last Chance Qualifier, and the best eight players from that Last Chance Qualifier will be able to compete in the main event, with some of the best Super Smash Bros players in the world.
Regarding its location, the tournament will be held in Las Vegas, and Ludwig even went one step further, as he will reimburse the players for their flights and accommodation costs. It's clear that Ludwig really wants the best players to be able to attend the event, and make this tournament a memorable one.
It's expected that the event will cost $1 million, according to Ludwig himself. It's no surprise if you look at the cost of production, prize pool, and paying for the player's flights and accommodations.
