Kosmos Holding, which is owned by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, has partnered with Enjoy TV to acquire the rights of French football championship to show matches in Spain. According to ESPN, the deal is for three years, and Movistar+ reported that it amounted to 2.5 million euros per year.
The sub-license is expected to be sold to a television channel. Until that happens, Kosmos Holding allowed the famous Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos to show the Ligue 1 match between PSG and Reims. This decision was influenced by Gerard Pique, who is on friendly terms with the streamer.
The broadcast was exclusive to the residents of Spain, the content was unavailable for other countries. The fact that Lionel Messi, the newcomer of the Parisian club, made his debut in this match attracted the viewers’ attention. The Argentinian came on the pitch in the 66th minute, replacing Neymar Jr. Game ended with a 2-0 win for PSG, with Kylian Mbappe scoring both goals.
