Readers won't be surprised to know that Just Chatting is the most viewed Twitch category across the current year by a considerable distance. It has so far hit 2.8B Hours Watched while also notching 28M followers, which is almost more than the rest of the segments combined. Music is second on this table with 10.1M followers, although it is third for overall watch time.

Next is ASMR with 4.8M followers, and although it falls to fifth for Hours Watched, it remains one of the most popular genres among viewers on the Amazon-owned site. It has also caused all kinds of news within the community, with many of the platform's most followed female content creators basing their content on such segments.

Fourth is content on Art, which is quite the niche topic online today, although it does give way to some pretty interesting conversations between the influencers and their watchers. Rounding off the top five is Talk Shows & Podcasts with 3.5M followers, and it is another highly sought-after segment in the online discourse despite its subjective nature.

Sports comes in sixth thanks to the sheer volume of events and tournaments that are available for streaming on an almost daily basis. It helps that it is one of the best ways to generate buzz across social media forums today thanks to the easy access to inside information and the speed with which updates are available to fans and pundits today.

Special Events is the last segment with followers in the millions on this list and is responsible for bringing to fans action from gaming conventions, charity streams, or significant gaming events like E3 or TwitchCon. Food & DrinkDungeons & Dragons, and Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches occupy the last three spots, covering different aspects of life and enjoying various levels of prominence among audiences.
