Streams Charts sums Q2 2022 results of Twitch streamers who broadcast in Portuguese. In a new article, we tell you about the most watched creators from Brazil, Portugal and other countries where this language is widespread.
The number of Hours Watched of Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers has finally shown a positive trend after a long decline. Between April and June 2022, the Top 100 most watched Portuguese-speaking streamers accumulated 204 million Hours Watched, an increase of 9.14% from Q1 2022.
Ninety-four streamers from Brazil accumulated 98.4% of the total HW. Three Portuguese streamers accounted for just 1%. Streamers from Colombia, Paraguay and Argentina shared approximately 0.7%.
Most Watched Categories on the Portuguese-speaking Twitch Segment in Q2 2022
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive became the most watched category with the Top 100 Portugal-speaking streamers. The game by Valve racked up 55.9 million Hours Watched in the quarter (27.41% of the total) and was firmly ahead of the other sections. Gaules, who broadcast many CS:GO tournaments including PGL Major Antwerp 2022, was a huge contributor to this result.
Grand Theft Auto V is the second most watched category of Q2 with 37.1 million Hours Watched (18.23% of the total). Just Chatting rounds out the Top 3 of the Portuguese segment — this category is the most watched one on Twitch.
If we compare the Top for the first and second quarters of the year, the Top three remained unchanged, although CS:GO increased its total by almost 16 million HW and GTA V dropped 7 million HW. The League of Legends category increased significantly in Q2, accumulating 18.7 million HW (6 million more than in Q1). This helped Riot Games' MOBA to overtake Valorant and secure fourth place in the ranking.
As for more global shifts in the section ranking, Lost Ark, Elden Ring and Garena Free Fire left the Top 10 in the second quarter. Fortnite, Teamfight Tactics and Motorsport Manager took their places.
Most Watched Male Portuguese-Speaking Streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
Gaules, a Brazilian, retained his status as the most watched Portuguese-speaking streamer at the end of Q2. Between April and June 2022, he accumulated nearly 57.8 million HW, of which CS:GO accounted for the bulk (47.4 million HW). The streamer contributed 71.3% of the total HW by language category.
In May, Gaules set a record for Peak Viewers as he attracted 708K PV at a time. This happened during the Imperial Esports vs. Cloud9 match in PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
In second place is loud_coringa. He accumulated 14.5 million HW in the quarter, which is almost four times fewer than Gaules did. It should be noted that in Q1 there was a twofold difference in HW between these streamers. Loud_coringa's 10.8 million HW were amassed during GTA V broadcasts, and the streamer's contribution to the total HW number of the category by language was 19%.
Third place in the Top is taken by casimito, who racked up 12.7 million Hours Watched in a month. In comparison, he had nearly 16.9 million HW in the previous quarter. More than 54.3% of casimito's airtime accounted for Just Chatting, and 37.7% for Sports.
YoDa improved slightly in viewership in Q2, accumulating 9.4 million HW and securing fourth place. The Top 5 is rounded out by gabepeixe (8.1 million HW), who was sixth last quarter. Other changes in the Top 10 are mount, Rakin and Baiano's elimination from the ranking. Cellbit, LuquEt4 and mch_AGG replaced them at the end of the quarter.
Most Watched Portuguese-Speaking Female Streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
There are only three female streamers in the Top 100 most watched Portuguese-speaking streamers of Q2 2022. The most watched of them is paulanobre, the creator of FURIA. From April to June the female streamer accumulated 669.4K Hours Watched, of which 84% accounted for Valorant.
In second place is the only representative of Paraguay in the Top 100 — yayahuz. In three months, she amassed 424.3K Hours Watched. She attracted the most viewers in the Just Chatting category (54.2%). Bagi is in third place with 420K Hours Watched — most of her content was also generated in the Just Chatting category (60%).
Audience Overlap of Top 5 Portuguese-speaking Twitch Streamers in Q2 2022
We have calculated the audience overlap between five most watched Portuguese-speaking streamers in Q1 2022. We found that Gaules' broadcasts are followed by 52.5% of YoDa's viewers and 44.51% of casimito's viewers. The biggest overlap in mutual audience between streamers belongs to loud_coringa and gabepeixe — from 45.07% to 72.8%.
