New Escape from Tarkov season storms Twitch as TheBurntPeanut tops the charts

It's been over a week since Escape from Tarkov Patch 1.1.0 was launched, and the game has shot up the Twitch rankings as a result. Led by streams for the Kord Breach season, it has climbed up to become the second-most-watched game since August 3, according to Streams Charts.

Lots of major features were introduced in Patch 1.1.0, making it quite a heavy update for players. The most awaited addition was the season system and Kord Breach, bringing independent seasonal character profiles on separate servers.

These seasonal character profiles automatically reset every four to six months with the release of a major content update and the start of a new season in Escape From Tarkov. Moreover, seasonal PMCs receive a 25% raid experience boost.

A new battle pass has also become active across all game modes (PvP, PvE, and seasonal). Players can progress in this battle pass by finding and submitting in-raid TerraGroup documentation. They can also unlock Seasonal rewards, which are unique trader offers, unlocked by playing a Seasonal Character and meeting one or more conditions.

Steam stats for Escape from Tarkov also showed an improvement, as it broke into the top 15 list among non-free-to-play games. What makes this achievement all the more commendable is the fact that most entries above the game are running on discounts as part of the platform's midweek deals.

Moreover, when looking at the number of players before and after the patch release, there was a big difference. As per Steamdb, Escape from Tarkov's peak player count rose to 44,849 on August 9, the most for the title since its release week, when it set a record of 47,800 concurrent players.

With so much happening and a lot for players to cover in the new season, engagement from viewers and streamers has been higher since the patch's release on August 3. Between this launch and August 10, Escape From Tarkov has put up a massive 20.17 million Hours Watched on Twitch, a rise of over 900% compared to the previous eight days.

This has put it in the second spot among games on Twitch for these eight days, behind only League of Legends. Escape From Tarkov has also accrued higher watch time numbers than legacy titles on the purple platform like Rust, Minecraft, Counter-Strike, and Grand Theft Auto V.

The multiplayer first-person tactical extraction shooter from Battlestate Games has also reached over 199,000 Peak Viewers. This puts it among the ten most popular games on Twitch between August 3 and 10, ahead of titles such as Fortnite, Dota 2, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, and Marvel Rivals.

Escape From Tarkov's new season has also received mostly positive reviews from various media outlets and critics. The general consensus within the community is that transitioning to a structured seasonal model has breathed much-needed life back into the early-wipe chaos and PvP.

Additionally, the game's pacing feels faster and less punishing for solo players due to task stacking, though complaints regarding initial server queues and underlying legacy jank remain. Fans have also praised the heavy revision for quests, allowing multiple objectives to be completed in a single raid for a much smoother progression flow.

These views were backed by some of the most prominent video gaming content creators today. The world's top VTuber, TheBurntPeanut, combined to accrue over 4 million HW on Twitch and YouTube, while Tony "LVNDMARK" and Bryce "HutchMF" Hutchinson also ended among Escape From Tarkov's top creators by watch time.

The action RPG game has also cut across various language dynamics, showing its diverse reach. Among its most-watched languages between August 3 and 10 were English, Japanese, German, and Russian, as almost 11,000 unique channels streamed some part of the Kord Breach season.

In a year where quite a few new releases have made their mark, Escape From Tarkov has managed to capture a majority of the gaming and streaming world's attention with perhaps its biggest update yet. It will be interesting to see where the title lands on our list of the most-watched games by the end of the year.
