The launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A was a big moment for the livestreaming community, with hundreds of fans streaming the game on major platforms right after its release. Even though the game is only available on Nintendo Switch, streams racked up millions of hours watched and attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is an action/RPG video game developed by Game Freak, with support from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It is part of the ninth generation of Pokémon games and serves as a sequel to Pokémon X and Y, which originally launched in 2013.

The game is set in Lumios City, a fictional metropolis inspired by Paris. Pokémon coexist with humans, and in special Wild Zones, players can face off against Pokémon trainers and their creatures. The objective is to defeat all the trainers and progress from rank Z to rank A.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched on October 16. Between October 16 and 19, Twitch streams of the game racked up 6.7 million Hours Watched. This placed Pokémon Legends: Z-A among the top three most-watched games on the platform, behind only League of Legends and Grand Theft Auto V. Its performance even outpaced ARC Raiders, whose beta test ran around the same time.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A sparked strong interest among European streamers, with many dedicating 30-40 hours to the game just over the past weekend. French streamer Corentin “Gotaga” Houssein logged the highest total Hours Watched, while Spanish streamer Rubén “Rubius” Doblas topped the charts for peak concurrent viewers.

By key viewership metrics, Pokémon Legends: Z-A outperformed Donkey Kong: Bananza, another Nintendo Switch exclusive that was released in July. Notably, it led all Nintendo titles in 2025 for the number of channels at peak viewership, doubling the peak channel count of Mario Kart World during its first weekend.
