Popular American rapper Kodak Black recently held his first stream on Kick, instantly making headlines and becoming a hot topic on social media. For his debut broadcast, Kodak showed viewers his car burning.
According to the rapper, the car unexpectedly caught fire while he and his friends were driving on the highway. They quickly pulled over and called the firefighters, and Kodak opted to go live from the scene. The incident occurred late on October 6, and despite the hour, his first stream peaked at over 1,600 concurrent viewers.
In the following days, Kodak held several more streams, mostly in the IRL and Just Chatting categories. During these broadcasts, he hung out with friends, drove around the city at night, chatted with fans on the streets, and filmed his trips to bars and strip clubs.
The content of Kodak's streams was clearly aimed at an 18+ audience, and he likely would have faced a ban if he had streamed on Twitch. However, his Kick broadcasts drew a lot of attention: one of them peaked at over 12,300 concurrent viewers. In just three days, Kodak's channel on Kick gained over 8,700 subscribers.
Kodak isn’t the first rapper to stream on Kick; others like Drake and Indian rapper Raftaar have also made appearances, though they stream less frequently. Occasionally, popular artists drop by top streamers’ broadcasts. For instance, Playboi Carti’s guest appearance on Adin Ross’ channel drew over 487,000 concurrent viewers at its peak.
Despite this, Kick still trails significantly behind Twitch in terms of popular musician-streamers. The platform features stars like 21 Savage, deadmau5, Post Malone, T-Pain, Soulja Boy, Logic, Snoop Dogg, and other big names from the music scene.
