Throughout its run, Fortnite has achieved a lot of milestones, be they in the esports or the live-streaming spheres. One feature that makes the game stand out is its Iconic Skins series, which has immortalized numerous influencers, content creators, athletes, and musicians, among others.

The latest streamer to be bestowed with this honor was Rubius, whose Fortnite’s Icon Series skin was revealed on September 15. The much-loved Spanish online personality ensured to live-stream this release and celebrate the occasion, attracting a record number of viewers as a result.

The broadcast from Sunday attracted 389K Peak Viewers, making it the most popular one on his Twitch channel. It was also his fifth most successful stream by average simultaneous viewers, pulling in around 197K Average Viewers across its 3 hours and 30 minutes of runtime. It was also the most popular livestream over the last week, ahead of some esports casters and official channels.

Interestingly, the last time an Icon Series skin was introduced for a Spanish Twitch star, a viewership record was broken. TheGrefg, another big name in the Hispanic community, live-streamed his outfit reveal in Fortnite in January 2021 and hit 2.47M PV, still number two on the list of most popular Spanish channels on Twitch.

With his September 15 broadcast, Rubius also entered the above leaderboard, taking up the tenth spot. Others to find a place include elxokasibai, and Shadoune666.

For those wondering, Rubius' Fortnite outfit, back bling, and pickaxe will be released on September 25 in the Fortnite Shop and cost 2,400 V-Bucks. Epic Games will also introduce the Rubius Skin Cup on September 21, handing players the opportunity to obtain the skin for free before the official release.

The skin will come in two variants, with the first one featuring the Twitch star in simple clothes. Gamers can remove the dark glasses or put them on, a feature that is also available with the bandana, whose glowing special effects can be switched on and off.

The second variant sees the broadcaster appear as a glowing dark purple cat that looks pretty dangerous. Apparently, this El Rubius outfit version is based on Kevin the Cube/Drift.

Players can also get their hands on a cat back bling and a pickaxe, with the former based on the creator's own cat, Wilson. The latter will come in the form of a glowing katana that matches the neon purple concept. An El Rubius wrap, emote, and LEGO version will also be available alongside a loading screen that the Andorra resident himself designed.

When it comes to Rubius, it is a well-deserved honor, one that is up there as one of the ultimate achievements for a streamer within the gaming community. Having started with YouTube back in 2006 and currently has over 40 million subscribers on the red platform.

Over on Twitch, he is one of the five most followed influencers ever with 15.2 million followers. He is one of the three Spanish names here, joined by the equally popular ibai and auronplay, and is known to play a variety of games, with his most recent activity including titles like Fortnite and Minecraft.

The 34-year-old initially became famous thanks to his gameplay videos of beloved games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Battlefield. His success in the streaming sphere has also gotten him nominations and wins at awards shows like the Play Awards and the ESLAND Awards.

The latest news from Fortnite and the pending release of his skin is a well-deserved accolade for Rubius. Not many creators get their own outfits in a game as famous as Fortnite, and it will be interesting how the game's viewership dynamics are affected when it releases, especially within the Hispanic community.
