Borderlands 4 has quickly become one of the biggest game releases this fall, drawing major attention from both gaming media and players. The launch wasn’t entirely smooth, and the developers are still working on optimizing the shooter. Still, the game has been warmly received in the livestreaming community, with dozens of top streamers and content creators jumping in. Streams Charts has gathered viewer statistics for Borderlands 4 from its first week after release.
Between September 12 and 18, Borderlands 4 streams racked up just over 9 million hours of watch time. This puts the game in 13th place among all game releases this year. Slightly ahead are Schedule I and Doom: The Dark Ages, both of which have already dropped out of the top ten. You can see the latest release rankings in our Hollow Knight: Silksong article — but keep in mind, the recently released EA Sports FC26 is likely to shoot up the charts soon.
Twitch emerged as the primary platform for Borderlands 4 streams, accounting for over 84.5% of total viewing hours during the release week. Part of this boost came from Twitch Drops, which viewers could earn by watching streams on the platform.
During its first week after release, from September 12 to 18, Borderlands 4 ranked sixth among the most-watched games on Twitch. It even outpaced Minecraft, Fortnite, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, whose hype had already begun to die down.
In the first week after release, the most-watched Borderlands 4 streamer was Canadian Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, whose streams racked up over 590,000 hours of watch time. Rounding out the top three were American streamers Moxsy and Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar.
In terms of peak viewership, Kai Cenat takes the lead easily. During his Mafiathon 3.0 event, he streamed Borderlands 4 and hit over 120,000 viewers at peak. That said, Kai didn’t spend much time playing the game — his Borderlands 4 streams lasted only about an hour and a half. This short-stream trend is common among top streamers, who often play Borderlands 4 for just 2–3 hours before moving on to something else.
