On February 12, one of the biggest Taiwanese Twitch events took place. The first iteration of the Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering invited dozens of popular streamers in Taiwan to celebrate content creation and fans. We’ve prepared a short recap of the event.
What was Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering about?

The Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering was organized by Twitch and held at a physical venue in Taiwan. For six hours, fans could enjoy an entertaining program. At the start, the invited streamers arrived at the venue and were interviewed by the hosts, one of which was Taiwanese public figure SoBaD. The rest of the celebrations were held inside, where guests could chat, eat, and take part in the program. The main spectacle of the gathering was the giveaways and live performances. For hours, hosts selected the lucky winners of a Nintendo Switch and more by pulling random name cards on the event stage. Moreover, Twitch viewers and streamers could watch live performances by Taiwanese Twitch musicians, such as 他卡桑 (Taka’s Radio Studio). To fill all six hours of the event with content, popular Twitch clips from streamers like KSPKSP were showcased.
Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering Viewership
As expected from an event of this scale, the Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering was very popular among the Taiwanese streaming community. Most likely attracted by their favorite streamers, many fans tuned into the event and followed the hosting channel, TwitchTW, particularly in the first half of the event. TwitchTW is the official Taiwanese Twitch channel and usually broadcasts a variety of Just Chatting, Sims, and Pokemon content. The Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering brought nearly three thousand new followers to the channel. Furthermore, almost 20,000 Peak Viewers followed the celebrations, making it the third most-watched stream on TwitchTW.
The event was only topped by two Twitch Streamers Battles held in 2020 and 2021. During these streams, notable Taiwanese Twitch streamers played against each other in the asymmetric horror game Dead by Daylight. The 2020 edition of this event attracted 20,000 Peak Viewers, while the 2021 edition was slightly more popular, with 21,000 PV.
The Twitch 2023 Superstar Gathering is an excellent example of how special events with multiple streamers can pull in large viewership numbers. It also shows the loyalty of the local Twitch community in Taiwan. With this success, Taiwanese fans might be able to watch another gathering of their Twitch superstars in 2024.
