Share:

The third quarter of 2021 has ended, and Streams Charts summarizes the most popular Twitch categories and content makers of that period. We tell you how much Call of Duty: Warzone dropped in the rankings, and who replaced summit1g and Tyler1 in the platform's top 10 streamers.

Twitch Viewership Results In Q3, 2021

We compared Twitch's overall metrics for Q3 and Q2 2021. Over the past three months, almost all platform metrics decreased with Hours Watched, Peak Viewers and Average Viewers down by over 10%, as well as average channel count dropped by 9%. At the same time the variety of games has increased on the platform (+11% compared to Q2, 2021).

Just Chatting was the most popular category in the third quarter of 2021. It remained in the top position for the ninth month in a row, but its Hours Watched dropped by 115 million compared to the second quarter.

GTA V retained second place, although its viewing time decreased by almost 35% compared to Q2 2021. League of Legends retained its position in the top 3 as well, although it had 98 million fewer Hours Watched than in Q2. It should be noted that in the next quarter the category is sure to increase significantly, because in October Worlds 2021 - LoL World Championship – is being held.

Although Valorant was in the top 4, it did not surpass its result in terms of Hours Watched compared to the second quarter of 2021. But on Twitch the popularity of Apex Legends increased significantly. In August the game began its tenth season with the subtitle ''Emergence,'' and with the new content the game's Hours Watched increased by 41 million.

Call of Duty: Warzone lost 95 million Hours Watched in the third quarter and dropped to eighth place. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lost 30 million Hours Watched and dropped to ninth place in the top eight. Dota 2, which lost 40 million Hours Watched, closes the rankings.

Felix "xQcOW" Lengyel remained to be the most popular streamer in terms of Hours Watched in the third quarter. He was a leading steamer in the second quarter as well, but this time viewers spent half as much time on his streams, which is also due to the less airtime of the Canadian: in July-September he was on the air for 169 hours less than in April-June.

Compared to Q2, Summit1g left the top 10. Instead, fourth position was taken by the Brazilian streamer loud_coringa with 33 million Hours Watched. He improved his results thanks to the GTA V streams, which regularly gather thousands of viewers. One of the most popular Minecraft streamers, RanbooLive, also left the ranking and his place in the top 5 was taken by Ibai, who was sixth in the previous ranking.

The second half of the top most watched streamers by Hours Watched has completely changed. For example, sixth place was taken by Asmongold, who had 23.8 million Hours Watched with 325 hours of airtime, most of which was spent playing World of Warcraft.

Trainwreckstv took seventh place with 23.7 million Hours Watched. Lately, Tyler has been focusing on slots, but sometimes he tries other categories. But the same can't be said about his counterpart ROSHTEIN, who devotes all his streaming time to gambling, and his streams had 20.9 million Hours Watched in total in the third quarter of 2021.

The Spaniard Ibai took the top position in the ranking of the most popular streamers in terms of Peak Viewers. He gathered 641K viewers on his stream during the America's Cup final. Auronplay took second place. On September 26th he participated in the La Purga event on Minecraft RP server TortillaLand and was watched by 332,000 viewers.

Minecraft streamer Dreamwastaken (previously known as Dream) gathered 270K viewers during a charity streaming event. Clay answered fans' questions with streamer Georgenotfound, and donations from that broadcast went to charity.

The most popular streamer association of the third quarter was G FUEL (top members: Summit1g, Ramee and TrainwrecksTV). Over the past three months, the community of 522 streamers had 120 million Hours Watched. Second place with a gap of 28 million Hours Watched was taken by Loaded. It should be noted that despite the community showing less impressive results than its competitor, Loaded has far fewer members, 39 in total. The most popular ones are Shroud, Summit1g and LIRIK.

Looking at the overall picture, the third quarter of 2021 showed lower results than the second quarter. In the fourth quarter we can expect an increase in discipline-specific results, as several world championships will be held in October - Worlds 2021 (League of Legends), The International 10 (Dota 2) and PGL Major Stockholm 2021 (CS:GO).
