Twitch is back with its monthly concept, SUBtember, which it claims "is the best way to show support for the streamers you love." It basically is a formula where viewers get great deals and incentives for subscribing to their favorite content creator's channel once every year (in September).
The website said:
"This year, the more you sub, the more you save on things like exclusive emotes, Chat badges, and Channel Points multipliers. Plus, you’ll get more of what you already love, like epic moments in Chat, lulz, being a part of your favorite community, and more."
SUBtember, termed the most rewarding time of the year, will begin on August 31 at 10 AM PT/5 PM GMT/September 1 at 2 AM JST and run until October 1 at 12 AM PT/7 AM GMT/4 PM JST. Users will get 25% off 1-month, 25% off 3-month, and 30% off 6-month paid subs. Moreover, they can enjoy 20% off merch in the Twitch Loot Cave in the US, UK, and Germany.
Teamfight Tactics is the official sponsor of SUBtember, and from September 26 at 10 AM PT/5 PM GMT/September 27 at 2 AM JST, users will receive 25% off all gift subs. This offer also runs till October 1, and even though they might be getting more for less, their favorite streamers will still earn for a full-priced sub or gift sub.
All subscriptions bought will also count towards qualification for the Partner Plus Program, launching this October. For those streamers who qualify, multi-month subscriptions beginning next month will be split as a 50/50 revenue share on net subscription revenue for that month before converting to a 70/30 split starting in October.
Earlier, Streams Charts had reported that only 2.5% of active partners can access the Partner Plus Program. It added that only 1066 streamers fit the requirement for this feature based on stats from March to May this year.
The Amazon-owned site added that like previous SUBtembers, these restrictions apply:
- Discounts apply to the first term of the subscription (for example, the first month of your monthly sub)
- Discounts are available on purchases made on the web only (twitch.tv)
- Existing subscribers are not included unless you upgrade to a multi-month or a higher-tier subscription
- Prime subscriptions are not included unless you convert them to paid subscriptions.

Zach Bussey gave fans a detailed explanation of what SUBtember meant for users and streamers via a detailed thread on X. The popular content creation news journalist who is the founder of TOS.gg — a website that covers the streaming space on Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok — revealed that if streamers farm 6-month Tier 3 subs, it works out to a 100% Sub Split (although it might be slightly lesser than 100% due to fees).
He also mentioned that Twitch Partners get a 60% split on Tier 2 subs, which means that if they farm six-month Tier 2 subs, they get an 86% sub split. When including everyone (Partners + Affiliates), a six-month Tier 1 Sub at 50% brings a 71% sub split. More details can be accessed on the official page on Twitch.
Moving on to other Twitch news, Zach Bussey noted that Twitch will launch the ability for content creators to prevent banned users from viewing their streams. The purple platform has also added a second Hype Chat button under the leaderboard in addition to the one located in the bottom right of the chat. Users can select X to remove the bar.
Usually, when the SUBtember comes into effect worldwide, Twitch's merchandise store will run massive discount promotions simultaneously. Additionally, subathons can be seen all over the place, with streamers looking to take advantage of the discounts offered to make more money from their viewers. It remains to be seen how things will pan out this time, but we don't have to wait too long to find out.
