February 2026 proved to be an eventful month on Twitch, with massive engagement across the platform. While total viewing dipped slightly compared to January — largely due to the shorter month — peak concurrent viewership reached impressive levels, fueled by major esports tournaments and high-profile streamer events. The month saw notable shifts in game rankings, record-breaking first-time streams, and the continued dominance of top creators, offering a clear snapshot of how Twitch audiences are engaging with both games and personalities in early 2026.
Twitch February 2026 Viewership & Engagement Trends

In February, Twitch streams generated more than 1.379 billion Hours Watched (HW), marking a roughly 10% decline compared to January. However, the drop is easy to explain: February has three fewer days than January, which naturally resulted in lower overall viewing figures.
Compared to February 2025, Twitch experienced a decline across most key metrics. The most striking drop was in the number of active channels, which fell sharply. Average viewership also decreased, and total hours watched on the platform saw a noticeable decline. Other metrics showed smaller dips, but the overall trend points to a slowdown in activity compared to last year.
At the same time, the number of active channels declined by 8%, effectively reversing the identical 8% growth recorded in January. Meanwhile, peak concurrent viewership increased by 9%, reaching 4.1 million viewers at the same time. This spike occurred on the evening of February 22, when many top Twitch channels were streaming the grand final of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 in Counter-Strike.

There were no major shake-ups among Twitch’s most popular genres in February. The overall numbers dipped slightly, but once again, that’s largely due to the shorter month rather than a shift in audience preferences.
The only notable movement in the rankings was the decline of the Open World category, which IRL and Strategy overtook. Meanwhile, the Tactical genre moved ahead of both Simulator and MMO.
Top Games on Twitch in February 2026

February brought several notable shifts among Twitch’s most popular categories. The biggest story was the sharp surge in popularity of Overwatch. The team-based tactical shooter from Blizzard Entertainment significantly strengthened its position on the platform, driven by what many are calling a soft relaunch of the game, along with the release of its major Reign of Talon update.

Both Counter-Strike and Valorant climbed three spots in the rankings, fueled by major esports events. Among the key drivers were IEM Krakow 2026, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, and the regional VCT 2026: Kickoff competitions.

World of Warcraft slipped two spots in the rankings and was unable to maintain its previous position. Late in February, the major Midnight expansion entered early access, which sparked renewed interest in the game and led to a noticeable uptick in viewership on Twitch. However, the full impact of that surge will likely be reflected in March’s final numbers rather than February’s.
Most-Watched Twitch Channels & Streamers (February 2026)

The top spot among Twitch’s most popular channels remained with TheBurntPeanut, an American VTuber and dedicated ARC Raiders сontent creator. In February, his streams generated 9.47 million Hours Watched, marking an 8% decline month-over-month. Meanwhile, Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart climbed to second place; he spent much of the month streaming Rocket League and covering matches from the RLCS 2026 – Boston Major, which significantly boosted his viewership.
Among other creators, Ivan “StRoGo” Shurpatov stands out. Fueled by his coverage of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, he managed to double his total Hours Watched and break into the platform’s top 10 most-watched channels for the month.
Among the month’s most-watched creators was German streamer Maik "zarbex" Taschenbier. He hosted an IRL marathon titled The Winterberg Tour 2026, traveling across Germany in a motorhome alongside TV presenter Max Schradin. The road-trip format and real-time interaction with viewers helped drive strong audience engagement throughout the event.

The VirginiaFonsecaTV channel topped Twitch in February 2026. It belongs to Brazilian TV personality and supermodel Virginia Fonseca, who is also known to football fans as the girlfriend of Vinicius Jr. On the night of February 17–18, Virginia hosted her first IRL stream on Twitch, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at her preparations for the Brazilian Carnival. The debut drew an impressive 663,000 peak concurrent viewers. Given her massive social media following — around 55 million Instagram followers and 12 million subscribers on YouTube — this level of viewership comes as little surprise.
Most of the other top channels focused on esports tournaments for Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and Rocket League. The main exception was Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop, who drew over 152,000 Peak Viewers while streaming the launch event for the new Samsung Galaxy.

Among female streamers who regularly go live on Twitch, Emily “Emiru” Schunk remained the clear leader. In February, her channel averaged 18,000 concurrent viewers. Another notable presence was Becca “Aspen” Rukavina, who surprisingly crashed into the top 10 thanks to the buzz surrounding the Overwatch 2 reboot.
