Twitch’s Peak Viewers increased in June, reaching the platform’s highest level since July 2025, when Ibai “Ibai” Llanos hosted the record-breaking La Velada del Año. This time, the peak came during Summer Game Fest, as audiences followed the showcase across its official broadcasts and the channels of numerous popular co-streamers around the world.
That one-day concentration of viewers contrasted with Twitch’s broader monthly performance. Most major viewership metrics declined by between 5% and 8% compared with May, a less encouraging result given that streamer activity increased during the first month of summer.
Twitch records its lowest monthly watch time since February
Twitch’s average concurrent audience fell below 2 million viewers, its lowest level since November 2025. Total Hours Watched dropped by 8%, reflecting both the decline in average viewership and the simple fact that June had one fewer day than May, leaving creators with less time to generate content.
Streamer activity moved in the opposite direction. More than 3 million creators averaged at least five concurrent viewers during the month, the first time Twitch had crossed that threshold since March.
The average number of channels live at any given moment slipped by around 1%, which remains within a relatively narrow range. Peak channel activity, however, exceeded 150,000 concurrent broadcasts, representing a 14% increase and Twitch’s best result in this metric since February.
Content diversity also improved. Streamers went live across more than 43,000 categories, the highest total in our sample of channels averaging at least five viewers.
MMO was the only major genre to grow
Against the backdrop of Twitch’s overall decline in monthly Hours Watched, nine of the platform’s ten leading genres lost viewership. MMO was the sole exception, increasing its watch time by 3%.
The growth came from several titles classified under the genre, most notably Minecraft, Path of Exile 2, and Escape from Tarkov. Their monthly Hours Watched increased by between 15% and 49%.
Every other genre in the top ten declined by between 3% and 15%. Simulators and Strategy recorded the weakest month-over-month performances.
Counter-Strike defies the broader decline
The category ranking followed a similar pattern, with most major games losing audience compared with May. Among the leading titles, Dota 2 recorded the sharpest decline in Hours Watched at 22%, followed by Grand Theft Auto V at 19% and League of Legends at 18%.
Counter-Strike moved firmly against the trend, increasing its watch time by 32%. The main driver was the IEM Cologne Major 2026, which set several audience records and finished as the most-watched tournament in the long history of Counter-Strike esports.
Jynxzi remains Twitch’s most-watched streamer
Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart retained first place by total Hours Watched. His output remained unusually broad throughout June: he organized creator tournaments, collaborated with streamers across multiple games, hosted esports watch parties, and joined discussions around the FIFA World Cup, a sport he follows closely.
The volume and variety of his content continue to set him apart, although maintaining such a demanding schedule over the long term will remain a challenge.
Counter-Strike’s strong month also shaped the rest of the ranking. Several channels covering the IEM Cologne Major entered the top group, including co-streamers Ivan "StRoGo" Shurpatov and Mark “ohnePixel” Zimmerman. ESL was the only organizational channel to appear among the leading broadcasters.
Jynxzi also ranked first by Peak Viewers. Despite June featuring both the CS2 Major and Summer Game Fest, Twitch’s largest individual channel peak came from his own creator tournament, this time held in Rocket League.
Drops provided an additional incentive to tune in, as viewers could earn in-game items by watching the broadcast.
Leading female streamers
Among female creators who streamed for at least ten hours during June, the leading channels averaged between 6,000 and 12,000 concurrent viewers.
The ranking was dominated by American creators, with two notable exceptions: German streamer Anissa "AnniTheDuck" Baddour and Mexican creator Samantha "rivers_gg" Treviño.
