The most recent edition of Twitch Rivals featured a $50,000 Apex Legends competition titled Twitch Rivals Apex Legends NA Showdown, which is the third event in the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends series for the North American region. Thanks to the increased number of prominent streamers among its participants, the tournament attracted a notably bigger audience than previous events in the series.
A total of 60 content creators from North America, but also from Canada, Mexico and Japan, participated in the competition that featured some of the biggest names in the Apex Legends scene, including the likes of NICKMERCS, Snip3down and Tfue.
Divided into 20 teams of three, the teams competed in a private lobby, earning points from eliminations and placement across five matches. Additionally, this event kicked off with a special showcase of the new Control 9v9 mode, with all 20 teams queuing into public matchmaking prior to the start of the main competition.
In 5 hours of Air Time, the third edition of Twitch Rivals Apex Legends NA Showdown generated 450.88K Hours Watched and attracted 94.9K Average Viewers. The event peaked at 114.15K concurrent viewers.
While it was Tfue’s team (Tfue, skittlecakes, sloth) that took out the win, the most popular streamer of the event was NICKMERCS, who accumulated 43.6K Peak Viewers and 167.2K Hours Watched. The second was TSM_ImperialHal, followed by Tfue.
Compared to the previous edition of the series, the most recent tournament improved its concurrent viewership by 38.35%, while its average viewer count was 37% higher. The HW count increased by 66.3%.
The improvement in viewership performance of the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends NA Showdown series can arguably be attributed to the participation of NICKMERCS, who’s been recently playing mostly Apex Legends, as he got reportedly tired of Call of Duty: Warzone. The American streamer explained his decision to take a break from Warzone in a YouTube video last year in August and attended only the most recent event in the series.
