Apple’s iPhone Duo reveal draws 3.4M Peak Viewers in livestreaming

On September 9, Apple held a major presentation of its updated device lineup, headlined by the iPhone 18 and the iPhone Duo, the company’s first foldable smartphone. The event was livestreamed across Apple’s official channels and drew more than 3.4 million concurrent viewers at its peak. 

The official Apple Event 2026 September Showcase broadcast on Apple’s YouTube channel attracted more than 3.1 million Peak Viewers. Several prominent creators also covered the event, with Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins Jr drawing the largest audience among independent channels. IShowSpeed attended the presentation in person and spoke with Apple CEO John Ternus.

The Apple Event 2026 September Showcase ranked third among Apple events by Peak Viewers, behind only the company’s September showcases in 2022 and 2024.

Key announcements from Apple’s September 9, 2026 event

The biggest announcement of the presentation was the iPhone Duo — Apple’s first foldable smartphone. The device features a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch foldable inner display, Apple Pencil support, the A20 Pro chip, and two 48-megapixel cameras. Prices start at $1,999, with sales beginning on October 23. Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, featuring the 2nm A20 Pro chip, a variable-aperture camera, expanded manual shooting controls, and longer battery life.

Apple also updated its lineup of wearable devices. The Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 received the S11 chip, upgraded health sensors, and new fitness-readiness features, while the AirPods 5 introduced more effective active noise cancellation, improved sound quality, and real-time conversation translation.

The presentation was Apple’s first major product showcase under CEO John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook earlier in September. Cook made only a brief appearance in the broadcast.
