Twitch is actively expanding its presence in different countries and regions, with the Hispanic segment of the platform having an especially active growth – now being one of the most popular languages of the service. In Q2 2021, Hispanic content creators started streaming more often, attracted more viewers, while Streams Charts collected and analyzed relevant statistics for the top 100 streamers who communicate with their audience in Spanish.
Between April 1st and June 30th, the streams of the top 100 Hispanic Twitch streamers averaged over 328.7M Hours Watched, just under half (48.5%) of the total for Spanish over that period. In three months, these streamers accounted for 5.1% of total Hours Watched across the platform.
In the spring and early summer, top Hispanic content creators were actively growing their audience. Compared to Q1 2021, they spent 7.2% more time on the air, and their amount of Hours Watched increased by more than 11.1%.
In the top 100, the vast majority of Hispanic streamers are Spaniards themselves, with one in six such streamers hailing from Spain. There are quite a lot of popular content creators in Mexico and Argentina. In total, these three countries account for 90% of streamers from the Hispanic top 100.
The number of girls in the top 100 Hispanic streamers continues to grow every quarter: during the period from April to the end of June, there were seven such female streamers in the ranking, who accounted for 4.5% of the total Hours Watched in the sample.
We should note the dynamics of streamers’ key metrics by sex: as compared to January-March, the Air Time of female streamers from the top 100 increased by almost 28% (from 1.9K to 2.4K hours), but at the same time the sum of their broadcasts’ Hours Watched decreased by 3%.
The number of male streamers in the top 100 declined, but they still have shown slight growth in terms of broadcast hours (by 6%), and they have shown stronger growth than girls in terms of broadcast Hours Watched – growing by almost 12%.
Raul “auronplay” Genes remains the main Hispanic streamer on Twitch. Every quarter, he displays the growth in Hours Watched, and during the period from March to the end of June, viewers spent over 31.3M Hours Watched on his streams – which is 9.5% of the total Hours Watched in the Hispanic top 100. It should be noted that Genes achieved these numbers despite streaming less than other Hispanic content creators – for 298 hours.
Ibai “ibai” Llanos also made significant progress in Q2 2021. At the end of May, he streamed the LA VELADA DEL AÑO event, in which top Spanish content creators competed in a series of boxing matches. The event gathered a huge audience, and the number of Peak Viewers on the ibai channel during the tournament exceeded 1.5M – this is the second-best result in the platform’s history (the leader is still another Spaniard, TheGrefg, whose Fortnite skin presentation was followed by more than 2.47M people).
IamCristinini, who is part of a group of streamers close to ibai, became the most popular Hispanic female streamer on Twitch in Q2 2021. She managed to break into the Hispanic top 10 while bypassing the competition by a huge margin: 6.6M Hours Watched over 551 hours of airtime. In the overall ranking of girls, she takes the second spot, being unable to keep up only with Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, who is more than twice ahead of all other Twitch streamers in terms of Hours Watched.
In 2021, RP servers for a variety of games are especially popular on Twitch – and if at the beginning of the year everyone was crazy about Rust, now viewers of top Hispanic streamers are most closely following the Grand Theft Auto V broadcasts. This category has become the most popular among both male streamers (29.4% of the total Hours Watched) and girls (56.4%).
Despite the audience’s great affection for GTA V, it was girls who streamed the game most actively, while it was only the third most popular category among the male streamers: the men most often streamed conversational streams in Just Chatting, as well as Fortnite.
It should be noted that League of Legends and Minecraft were also included in the tops of categories (both in terms of Hours Watched and Air Time) among male streamers, while the girls actively played and streamed Ark: Survival Evolved and Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen.
As it tends to happen, the audience of top streamers overlaps quite a lot. For clarity, we compared how many viewers of auronplay are also watching other content creators from the top 10.
It turned out that auronplay has the most overlap with ibai: over 54% of viewers of Genes also follow the broadcasts of Llanos. Similarly, over half of viewers of auronplay also watch the streams of TheGrefg. Genes has the least shared audience with FolagorLives: only 10% of viewers of Twitch’s main Hispanic content creator follow the streams of the latter.
