Engaging with the audience is an important part of a streamer’s ability to stay popular and put out better content. Conversely, the level of audience engagement is vital proof of streamers’ popularity, as it measures the content creators’ ability to keep their viewers busy and interested.

Streams Charts lists the broadcasters who had the most active chats in February, alongside those who were able to best engage with their audience during that time.

Streams Charts gets all its stats in-house, and for those of you who want to access every number from YouTube, including YouTube Gaming, for your usage, all you need to do is subscribe to our PRO service here for $250 and gain data for 15M+ channels. If you want to focus on particular channels or platforms, go ahead and buy our Streamer service at $9 per channel per month or $99 annually per channel.

The audience engagement ratio is the percentage of active chatters to the total number of Unique Viewers of the channel. The more often viewers write in a chat during the broadcast, the higher this ratio is.

To compile the ranking, we have put certain restrictions: we analyzed only those channels that had more than 100K followers, more than 5K Average Viewers on broadcasts, and more than 100K messages in the chat in January.

The creator with the highest engagement with their audiences for the second month of 2023 was AgustinUnaplay8, who was well into his 365-day Dead by Daylight marathon. The Argentinean broadcaster had more than 29K messages sent to his channel in February while notching 79K Unique Authentic Viewers, meaning it counted toward a pretty healthy engagement rate of 36.86%.

Next came DougDougW, who topped this list for January and continued to shine the following month. As expected, the American gaming streamer’s engagement rate of 34.07% was high as viewers could directly influence the course of the broadcast by sending messages, meaning they could affect his gameplay positively or negatively.

Baiano rounded off the podium places with an engagement rate of 33.09% thanks largely to streaming the popular CBLOL event continuously in February. The Brazilian had a massive 227K UAV, mostly Portuguese-speaking, and thanks to his interesting commentaries of the League of Legends tournament, his audiences were pretty interactive with him.

American streamer PaymoneyWubby finished fourth thanks to an engagement rate of 32.11%, largely on the back of entertaining his viewers by watching funny videos. He had 27K messages and 86K UAV, helping him jump four positions from his January position of eighth.

Popular creator WilburSoot made it to the top five largely on the back of his wholesome Just Chatting videos and camaraderie with fellow Minecraft biggies like TommyInnit and GeorgeNotFound. The Brit had 31K messages and 104K UAV for an engagement rate of 30.17%.

The rest of the top ten mostly consisted of gaming, sports, and Just Chatting streamers who regularly post content and enjoyed engagement rates between 29% and 26%. These names were also an amalgamation of creators from America, Europe, and South America, proving that broadcasting as a career has reached all corners of the globe.

A special mention must go to LACOBRAAA, a new entrant on this list who specializes in Chatting and Sports streaming. The Argentine notched an engagement rate of 27.60%, thanks in part to streaming live matches like Liverpool versus Manchester United. Considering the kind of rivalry between the two sets of fans, it was not a surprise to see his chat catch fire and be number one on this list in terms of active chatters.

When it comes to all the EAMaddenNFL, the official English-language channel that covered Madden NFL 23 tournaments, did the highest overall engagement rate at 39.17%. However, since this article is looking at streamers and not organizations, it was not included as part of the list. Madden is a hugely popular game in North America, and with its Twitch streams containing lots of opinion shows and analysis, the chat remains much more active. More importantly, fans are pretty vocal about their likes and dislikes, and they are not afraid or slow to share the same over in the chat segment, leading to higher engagement rate numbers.

When it comes to streams, what catches the attention almost immediately is the chat and how hot (or not) it is. This gives away how well the exercise is going and says a lot about the content creator as well.

Atop this list, quite expectedly, is Kai Cenat, whose record-breaking subathon ended earlier this week. It cemented him as a top-tier personality on the purple platform, and his subscriber record will be the stuff of legends in the years to come. He had a frankly-ludicrous 553K messages on his channel across February, each discussing the various activities he partook in as part of his month-long effort.

Once again, most of this top ten list consisted of gaming streamers from Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain. These successful creators love streaming games like CS:GO, Minecraft Valorant, LoL, and Grand Theft Auto V, in turn making these titles prevalent among Spanish and Portuguese-speaking audiences.

Last month’s top ten had only one female streamer, rivers_gg, but in February, she was joined by popular ASMR broadcaster Amouranth.

As usual, in terms of Hours Watched, xQc did great numbers, but that does not guarantee high engagement or active chats. However, knowing the Canadian’s fame, there is no doubt both metrics would have been on the higher side as well. In fact, his channel was second behind Kai Cenat in terms of HW for the month, pointing to his enduring popularity on the site.

Tarik was also able to make this top ten list on the back of his HW numbers, which made him the fifth-best channel and third-best streamer for February. Of course, his Valorant gameplay continues to be top-notch, which is why he has been able to attract so many viewers over the years.

Kai Cenat and Amouranth also had the most UAV in February, and it remains to be seen if the former can maintain his place on such a list come March. Amouranth, meanwhile, will look to continue her ascension and maintain a place near the top of the table, which will only serve as proof of her work being in demand among viewers.
