Streams Charts continues to recap the results of January. This time we have listed the streamers with the most active chats. Audience engagement is a very important indicator of a channel's popularity, which primarily indicates the streamers’ ability to work with their viewers.
Top 10 Twitch Streamers by Active Chatters in January 2023
The number of Hours Watched and Peak Viewers can tell a lot about a content creator, but chat is the first thing people pay attention to when they first visit the channel.
The Argentinean streamer ElSpreen became the leader by the number of active chatters in the first month of the year — more than 262.8K people sent messages in the chat of his channel in January. They actively commented on ElSpreen's successes (and failures) in Minecraft Extremo. The streamer was eliminated after a week the marathon started.
Most of the places in the rating are taken by gaming streamers from Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain. Their content mostly comprised Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V, which are very popular with Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking viewers. A special mention goes to Rivers_gg, the only female streamer in the Top 10.
As for the non-gamers, we can mention English-language streamers AdinRoss and KaiCenat. As for xQc, he often streams games, but it is in the Just Chatting category where the Canadian gets the most Hours Watched. It should be noted that a large number of Hours Watched does not always mean that a streamer has a lot of active chatters. In this case, much depends on the audience's interest in the content. For example, if a streamer has an active discussion with the audience, the number of chatters on his channel becomes greater.
Top 10 Twitch Streamers by Audience Engagement in January 2023
The audience engagement ratio is the percentage of active chatters to the total number of Unique Viewers of the channel. The more often viewers write in a chat during the broadcast, the higher this ratio is.
To compile the ranking, we have put certain restrictions: we analyzed only those channels that had more than 100K followers, more than 5K Average Viewers on broadcasts, and more than 100K messages in the chat in January.
Streamer DougDougW took first place in the audience engagement ranking. In January, his channel had 66K Authorized Viewers, of whom more than 26.3K actively chatted: the audience engagement ratio reached nearly 40%.
DougDougW is an American gaming streamer who has hosted many broadcasts of TES V Skyrim, GTA V, and other games in the past month. The high engagement in his chat was caused by the fact that by sending messages viewers of the channel could directly influence the course of the broadcast. For example, changing mods in games or spawning various in-game items. In other words, they could help or hinder the streamer in a particular game moment.
The Argentinean streamer AgustinUnaplay8 takes second place by the audience engagement ratio. He started a big Dead by Daylight marathon in the middle of January, which was supposed to last 365 days. At the end of January, the number of active chatters on his broadcasts was 36%.
Streamer drb7h from Saudi Arabia is third in the ranking. In January, his broadcasts were watched by more than 69K Authorized Viewers, 35% of whom actively chatted. Drb7h mostly streamed GTA V and spent time in Just Chatting.
The Argentinian streamer davooxeneize has already topped the ranking of channels with the most active chatters in the past but now takes only fifth place in this Top. The Brazilian streamer tioorochitwitch occupies sixth place in the ranking. In January, his audience engagement ratio was 31.4%. Usually, tioorochitwitch broadcasts the Just Chatting category, where he watches clips from the Internet and interacts with viewers.
