TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 was streamed live by creators for over 5.6K hours throughout the weekend

TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 was streamed live by creators for over 5.6K hours throughout the weekend

The first TwitchCon of 2024 took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on the weekend of July 29 and 30. The TwitchCon Europe convention brought many streamers to the Netherlands and sparked many IRL streams by creators in attendance. Although less popular than the North American TwitchCons, such as Las Vegas 2023, the event still received significant coverage on Twitch.

Throughout June 28 to 30, streams covering TwitchCon or otherwise the experience of Rotterdam generated over 2M Hours Watched. For these statistics, we have included June 28 as many creators went live a day before the actual convention to host special collaborative IRL streams. More than 1.2K channels on Twitch covered the convention this Summer, and more than 5.6K broadcasting hours were recorded.

The vast majority of these 1.2K channels were represented by creators with 0-50 Average Viewers, who made up more than 900 of these total channels. There was an up tick in the 101-500 AV range, with 150 channels recorded; many channels at TwitchCon saw a significant boost to their viewership thanks to the hype surrounding the event.

TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 Viewership Statistics

Most of the viewership for the event came on Saturday, the first day of the two-day convention. TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 also recorded its peak viewership on Saturday, with the official Twitch account receiving 30.4K Peak Viewers for their Day 1 broadcast of the event. The official Twitch account was one of many options for viewers to enjoy special events broadcasted from TwitchCon, and many of these events generated significant peak viewerships throughout the weekend.

TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 viewership distribution by day and language

Of the total 2.02M Hours Watched collected across the weekend, 72.5% of the viewership came from English-speaking streams. English-speaking streams were by far the most popular option for TwitchCon coverage, with German in second-place with 17.4% of the 2.02M HW. The German-speaking audience is usually slightly smaller, but the proximity of TwitchCon Europe 2024 to Germany made the event highly attractive for German streamers.

The same effect boosted the viewership of Dutch-speaking audiences, which contributed 1.5% of the event’s total watch time. The home country buff helped Dutch to rank within the top 5 languages by watch time for TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024.

Usually, Spanish-speaking audiences are one of Twitch’s biggest demographics. However, Spanish-speaking broadcasts contributed only 1.7% to the total watch time of TwitchCon Europe 2024. Latin American streamers are a large portion of this Spanish-speaking demographic, and the distance from Latin America to the Netherlands was not inviting for these streamers to cover the convention.

In terms of watch time on a day-by-day basis, we already mentioned that Saturday was the most-watched day of the convention. Saturday generated 810.1K Hours Watched of the total 2.02M, and Sunday followed closely behind with 685.2K HW. Friday could only manage 526.9K HW, but not all streamers attending TwitchCon streamed on the eve of the event. Many of Twitch’s first streamers first went live on Saturday, with some IRL streamers preferring to explore the Netherlands live on Twitch before the convention.

Top streamers by hours watched and peak viewers of TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024

In terms of the most-watched creators at TwitchCon Rotterdam, EsfandTV emerged as the most-watched creator of the weekend, recording 191.8K Hours Watched. The American streamer stood far ahead of the competition in terms of watch time, and he was live for over 22 hours across the two days of TwitchCon! Esfand’s day one coverage of TwitchCon reached 18K PV thanks to a raid from zackrawrr, making him the fifth-most-popular creator to cover TwitchCon.

The official Twitch account was also one of the most-watched and most popular channels covering the event; Twitch received 137.2K Hours Watched and was the most popular broadcast of the entire event, reaching 30.4K PV towards the end of their first broadcast.

Nmplol finished third in both of our rankings with 121.7K HW and 26.8K PV. The American was live for over 5 hours on Friday, exploring the Netherlands with other collaborative streamers joining him. NoraExplorer was one of the people to tag along with Nmplol, and she recorded some of her most-watched content of 2024 and 96K HW. The group also went live again on July 1, the day after the event, to stream more IRL hijinks together.

Jinnytty received over 109.5K Hours Watched for her lengthy coverage of the event. Jinny streamed for roughly 10 hours each day throughout TwitchCon, and is still live exploring the Netherlands as of June 2. She received slightly more viewership than normal for these TwitchCon broadcasts, but she also did not enjoy as much of a boost as other streamers have seen.

Filling out the rest of our peak viewers ranking, LAN and NomNom are two official Twitch accounts affiliated with TwitchCon. The former account received 28.3K PV which came in some serious waves during the Escape from Tarkov: Arena event, held live at TwitchCon. The latter account received 19.7K PV during a special party game held live on stream.
