Another year, another edition of TwitchCon Europe has ended, with Rotterdam Ahoy opening its doors to hundreds of fans and streamers for the year's first edition. While American streamers were the most popular, attendees also witnessed some incredible events while meeting their favorite content creators on Sunday.
Streams Charts continues its series of recaps of this semi-annual gaming convention with a look back at the events held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. While Twitch Rivals is the obvious big name that fans love and follow with a keen eye, there were competitons in games like Tarkov that gave those looking for something different to sink their teeth into.
The most popular of the four events to be held at TwitchCon Rotterdam 2024 was Twitch Rivals Ultimate Challenge, which recorded 61.8K Peak Viewers. A prize pool of $75K meant that it featured numerous top creators of the platform, who also contributed heavily to its viewership, alongside the official Twitch broadcasts covering the games.
Amar, BagheraJones, Tonton, LetsHugoTV, Wuant, and JamieDrakeHD were among the online stars who battled it out at the Twitch Rivals Arena on June 30 for around three hours. Eight teams of four streamers each took part in some of the strangest and most competitive IRL and digital games like Spell Chec, Puzzle Pursuit, and Foosball Frenzy before Team LetsHugoTV emerged as the winner.
As a result, the Twitch Rivals Ultimate Challenge registered 148.5K Hours Watched and 44.5 Average Viewers. The most popular influencers to cover the action were CDawgVA and LetsHugoTV, with the former's 8.9K PV putting him at number one by this metric.
Next comes the $50K prize pool MC Championship LIVE with 59.5K PV having also featured some of the game's most popular content creators. The presence of names like 5up, DarkEyebrows, LetsHugoTV, FitMC, JackManifoldTV, and Snifferish helped the event hit 146.7K HW and 44K AV over three hours of airtime.
However, the most popular channel of this Minecraft event was the official TwitchRivals channel on the purple platform with 15.1K PV. In terms of individual streamers, the most sought-after online personality was LetsHugoTV, who accrued 11.7K PV and was also the only streamer to cross the 30K HW mark.
When it comes to recapping the competition itself, there were ten teams of four participants each who duked it out across six minigames, including Railroad Rush, Hole in the Wall, and Build Mart IRL. At the end of it all, Cyan Coyotes — represented by 5up, JeremyFrieser, Wolfeei, and Snifferish — beat Purple Pandas — consisting of LetsHugoTV, Wichtiger, Fabo, and nooreax — in the Bo5 Dodgebolt (Finals) to emerge as the winner.
The last of the four tournaments to cross the 50K PV mark was the Party Animals Invitational on Twitch Rivals, TwitchCon 2024. It had the likes of AndreaOMeVoy, Syrix, Fanfan, Wirtual, and ZeratoR butting heads in a bid to win a large chunk of the $50K purse.
This duos affair witnessed 32 streamers divided into 16 teams and taking part in a 2-stage tournament: Opening Brawl (Round Robin) and Finale (Top 4 Duos). The deciding match saw Team Wirtual, Team banthony, Team billybella_, and Team LittleBigWhale go to battle, with the first team edging a win after accumulating three points.
This Party Animals competition featured many of Europe’s most popular creators but the TwitchRivals channel was the most popular among fans by a distance. The official broadcast touched 30K PV, making this live stream its second-most popular of the year, with the top individual channel being French creator Gom4rt.
Last but not least is the TwitchCon Europe 2024, which garnered 34K PV thanks to a mixture of competition and in-game reveals regarding the new factory map rework and upcoming changes. With the developer, Battlestate Games, calling on various Twitch streamers to showcase these additions and tweaks to the audience, it hit 124.2K HW and 8.4K AV over an airtime of 15 hours.
The Tarkov tournament, played on the new factory map, took place across the weekend, meaning many players were experiencing this new rework for the first time. Among the two official channels covering the happenings, the developer's official account had a higher watch time, but the LAN handle, one of the official accounts for TwitchCon Europe 2024, hit a much higher peak of 28K people.
There was lots for fans and attendees to catch over the weekend in Rotterdam as Twitch went all out to put up another grand show. Quite a few announcements were also made from the platform's side, which readers can read here.
