Twitch June 2024 results — Kai Cenat cements the top, Elden Ring on a rise

Twitch June 2024 results — Kai Cenat cements the top, Elden Ring on a rise

The first month of summer was incredibly successful for Twitch. In June, the platform maintained almost the same viewership numbers as the previous month, with only minor fluctuations. However, what saw a significant increase was the peak audience, which jumped by a remarkable 10%, largely thanks to the Kings World Cup 2024. Streams Charts provides insights into the performance of the purple platform in June, highlighting the top-performing streamers and channels.

Twitch June 2024 Viewership Statistics

Evaluating the platform's overall performance, it’s clear that Twitch kept up the pace set at the beginning of the year. Although some key metrics saw slight declines, particularly Hours Watched and Average Viewers, these drops are insignificant. One of the reasons is that June was simply one day shorter than May, leading to a natural decrease in total watch time.

One noteworthy aspect is the growth in peak viewership. The platform’s maximum concurrent audience increased by 10% compared to May. The peak day last month was June 2. This day featured two significant live-streaming events. First is the triumphant Kings World Cup 2024, with some broadcasts drawing hundreds of thousands of live viewers on Twitch. The second major event was IEM Dallas 2024, with the championship final taking place on June 2. The decisive match generated a lot of excitement, largely due to Stewie2k standing in for G2 Esports (read more about it here).

Most Watched Games & Categories on Twitch, June 2024

Top Twitch Categories June 2024 Viewership Stats

The ranking of the most popular categories among viewers did not see many significant changes. The top three categories remained the same: Just Chatting, Grand Theft Auto V, and League of Legends retained their positions at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively. However, one category that significantly improved its performance was Elden Ring. The game began gaining hype in May when some top streamers started replaying it (or, like Kai Cenat, playing it for the first time) in anticipation of the DLC release. The DLC was released in June, propelling the game to fourth place among all categories and third place among video games.

The rapid rise of Elden Ring caused a drop in the rankings of several other games. Among the newcomers to the top categories, Rust is noteworthy, climbing 24 spots in a month to secure the 10th position. In mid-June, Rust saw the event “Bellum: Redemption” (or "Bellum 2"), featuring many top streamers of the platform. While most participants were Spanish-speaking, there were also English-speaking and other international streamers, contributing to the category's massive viewership. Additionally, viewers could earn in-game items by watching the streams during the event, which provided an extra viewership boost for the category.

Most Watched Channels on Twitch, June 2024

Kai Cenat was undoubtedly the face of Twitch in June. The American content creator topped the channel rankings for the second month in a row, leading in both total watch time (more than double that of his closest competitor) and peak concurrent viewership. His streams of Elden Ring were particularly popular with viewers, and Kai's highest single-audience turnout came during a hilarious, record-breaking stream with Kevin Hart and Druski.

Interestingly, the rest of the streamer rankings based on watch time saw significant changes. Several top American content creators returned to the top ten or substantially improved their positions. Notably, the top ten included only one streamer each from South America (Baiano) and Asia (Kato Junichi). Europe was represented by two League of Legends co-streamers (Caedrel и Ibai).

The ranking of channels by maximum concurrent viewership in June is particularly intriguing. Alongside Kai Cenat, the top three included Kings World Cup co-streamers AmineMatue from France and Tumblurr from Italy (he set a new channel record). Notably, the top 10 featured two channels that rarely make it into such rankings. The official Amazon Music channel secured the fifth spot with Kendrick Lamar's concert stream, attracting over 186,000 concurrent viewers. This was the channel's most successful broadcast in two and a half years, surpassed only by broadcasts of Kanye West's performances. Right after Amazon, the official Twitch channel for The Game Awards took the next spot with its Summer Game Fest stream.

Most Watched Female Streamers on Twitch, May 2024

Among female streamers, Ironmouse maintained the lead at the end of the month, although her margin over Mira, who again placed second, was not as impressive, with less than two hundred thousand hours of watch time separating them. Other notable mentions from the top include CrystalMolly and Kyedae, each tripling their total watch hours, largely due to increased streaming hours compared to May.

Interestingly, the most popular stream among females in June was not hosted by Rivers_gg, as one might expect (considering her coverage of the highly popular Kings World Cup). Instead, it was Moroccan streamer Cameliaaa92 who led the way with her single stream in June: her episode of the talk show "Face a Cam" attracted over 65,000 Peak Viewers.

Among the others, we want to highlight Alondrissa from Puerto Rico: she had an extremely successful month, making it into both rankings for female streamers. Additionally, she became the leader among them in terms of follower growth, gaining +112,000 new followers in the month, which is twice as much as her closest competitor.
