Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google and YouTube, has for the first time disclosed the full revenue of the world’s largest video platform, including subscription income rather than just the advertising figures it typically reports. In total, the service generated over $60 billion in 2025, making it the second-highest-earning company in the entertainment sector.
Subscriptions have become an increasingly important contributor to the company over the past year. According to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, the total number of paid subscriptions across YouTube’s ecosystem — including YouTube Premium, YouTube TV and Google One — surpassed 325 million by the end of 2025.
According to Dexerto, YouTube’s total revenue was approximately 33% higher than Netflix’s, which reported $45.18 billion over the same period. Among entertainment companies, only Disney generated more revenue in 2025, reaching $95.7 billion.
Advertising continues to serve as YouTube’s main revenue driver. In the fourth quarter of 2025, advertising revenue grew by 8.7% year-over-year, reaching $11.38 billion. However, the result fell short of analyst expectations, largely due to reduced spending on political advertising compared to the previous year.

According to Streams Charts data, YouTube ranked as the most-watched livestreaming platform outside mainland China in 2025, generating more than 56.7 billion Hours Watched. The platform also recorded 2% year-over-year growth in this metric. For a deeper breakdown of livestreaming platform performance and yearly trends, see our Global Livestreaming Landscape 2025 report.
