Another weekend, another game that has taken the community by storm, and this time, it's the highly anticipated Battlefield 6. After a few near misses with earlier installments, especially Battlefield 2042, fans had been waiting for a title that would do justice to the legendary franchise.

The newest offering not only delivered on these expectations but also far exceeded them at the time of writing. It also topped the Twitch livestreaming table for its first weekend post-release, showing just how widely well-received its launch has been.

Battlefield 6 was released on October 10, and expectations were high after over two months of a mostly successful Open Beta (early access). And the action shooter has not disappointed, delivering a top-notch multiplayer experience, with many calling it the series' best in years, and dynamic gameplay.

This early success has meant that the title has also taken over Twitch's livestreaming charts. Between October 10 and 13, Battlefield 6 ended as the purple platform's top video game by watch time and peak concurrent viewers, beating out legacy names like League of Legends, Counter-Strike, and Grand Theft Auto V.

Even when extending the dates to the past week, Battlefield 6 beats almost every title. While it emerges as the most popular game with 584,449 Peak Viewers (PV), it finishes second by watch time, accumulating 13.3 million Hours Watched (HW), behind only League of Legends.

In terms of sales, the FPS offering has topped the United Kingdom's physical games sales charts for the week ending October 11. Moreover, as per analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, the game pre-sold 1.8 million copies on Steam alone, accruing over $100 million in revenue.

Battlefield 6 also reached a peak concurrent player count of 747,440 users on Steam, becoming the franchise's biggest game by this count. Electronic Arts' (EA) shooter now sits in the fourteenth spot for most played Steam title ever, according to SteamDB's chart.

Some of the features of the sixth installment in the franchise that have come in for praise are its sound work, gunplay, and the balance between the four classes despite their distinct identities. Crucially, many outlets have reported that Battlefield 6 runs smoothly even on laptops and doesn't need a high-end PC or setup to perform impressively.

With so much going for it, EA's latest FPS offering attracted the attention of many prominent streamers, who no doubt aided in its early livestreaming success. The likes of Michael "shroud" Grzesiek, Dmitrii "Recrent" Osintsev, Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, Seth "scump" Abner, Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar, and Maher "maherco" Sultaneh have embraced the title since its October 10 launch.

Former Counter-Strike professional gamer shroud has already racked up over a million HW over the past four days. Interestingly, Zack "zackrawrr" Hoyt, who returned to livestreaming after a month away taking care of his father, has emerged as Battlefield 6's most popular streamer with 43,986 peak online viewers.

Among video game releases in 2025, Battlefield 6 is now the most popular, with only one other entry, Marathon, passing 500,000 PV. Considering the growing hype around the title, it is only a matter of time before it also becomes the year's most-watched launch, with the current leader being Monster Hunter Wilds.

After all, less than a week since launching, the game has already overtaken other fan-favorite releases this year, like EA Sports FC 26 and Hollow Knight: Silksong by watch time. It is also on track to surpass in total livestream Hours Watched figures of other prominent titles such as Elden Ring: Nightreign and Peak

Just a few days into its much-hyped release, Battlefield 6 has already taken over the video gaming community, succeeding in livestreaming, revenue, and its player base. It has arguably restored the credibility of a franchise that seemed to have fallen off a cliff with Battlefield 2042, and it remains to be seen if any other game can challenge it as the top video game launch of 2025.
