CraftAttack is a collaborative Minecraft project for streamers and content creators who work together on an online map to build projects, act out role-play, and compete against each other. The 11th season of CraftAttack began on October 28, and the German Minecraft series has taken over Minecraft on Twitch over the past few days.
The first CraftAttack series began in 2014 and featured more than 20 German-speaking content creators and streamers, and now in 2023, the 11th season of the series has evolved to include 62 various creators. A full list of all creators can be found on the CraftAttack website.
Most popular streamers of the CraftAttack Season 11 launch
Many of the biggest German-speaking content creators dominated the top streamers of the CraftAttack launch, and Papaplatte took the top spot with 38K PV. Papaplatte is one of the largest German-speaking creators on Twitch, and he is quickly approaching 2M Followers on the platform.
Papaplatte routinely reaches more than 20K PV for his streams on the purple platform, but even a streamer as popular as he enjoyed a boost to his viewership from the CraftAttack launch. Papaplatte’s streamers covering the server launch were some of his most popular content throughout the past few months, and he kicked the event off with a 12-hour marathon stream on the server.
BastiGHG was in second, and the German creator is one of the biggest Minecraft content creators from the region. Basti boasts over 1.58M Followers on Twitch, and his CraftAttack content was some of his most popular content ever. He reached 32K PV partially thanks to a raid of 15K viewers from Papaplatte, which almost boosted the stream to break his personal PV record of 34K. Whether a big or small content creator, a recurring theme of the CraftAttack season 11 launch will be boosting German-speaking creators to enjoy some of their most successful viewership.

Trymacs was the third-most-popular creator of the server launch with 30K PV, but the Hamburger was the most-followed creator on this ranking. With over 3.44M Followers, it's hard to see how this event could benefit Trymacs, but our statistics show the stream was one of his most-watched broadcasts ever.
The creator from Hamburg is known for his Special Events broadcasts, but his marathon stream of the Minecraft server received 30K Peak Viewers and 692.9K Hours Watched in total. The stream was also one of his most successful streams in terms of Followers Gain, receiving 877% more new Followers for this stream compared to previous ones. The collaborative nature of CraftAttack provides a viewership boost for even the most successful German content creators in the industry.
The Luxumborgish creator LetsHugoTV is the first non-German on the ranking and his 16K Peak Viewers figure was his fifth-most-popular broadcast on Twitch ever. Just behind him with 16K PV was NoWay4u_Sir. NoWay is a professional League of Legends player and advertised his streams as a noob’s perspective on the whole event, and his Minecraft streams for the past week helped expose him to a new audience of potential fans.
Although his Minecraft stream reached 16K PV, this wasn’t enough to become the most popular content on his channel. As a League of Legends professional, his most popular content are his community casts of various League of Legends events, for which he is usually the most popular German-speaking option for fans to enjoy the game. Moving down the ranking, we come to some of the smaller creators of the event. Although these streamers are relatively smaller compared to the top streamers, the feeling of community within the German event was strong and streamers supported each other through raids.
CastCrafter reached 9K PV and enjoyed a raid from Fabo, which brought over 1K viewers to his stream. CastCrafter returned the favour to Fabo, bringing him 1.1K viewers through a raid too. Fabo’s stream where he recorded 7K PV was also boosted by a raid from Papaplatte, who brought 7K+ viewers with him. Stegi reached his 9K PV thanks to large raids from both xRohat and NoWay4u_Sir, and Wichtiger reached his 7K PV thanks to a raid of more than 8K viewers from BastiGHG.
Throughout the first few days of CraftATtack, the strength and camaraderie of the German community have been put on full display, as not only have some of the top German creators in the industry enjoyed boosts to viewership and exposure to new audiences, but they all shared the love as the most popular streamers of the launch raided each other with thousands of viewers.
Now that we’ve seen which streamers make up the new wave of German viewership for the Minecraft category on Twitch, let’s see how the CraftAttack Season 11 launch has affected Minecraft viewership on Twitch overall.
Viewership for Minecraft on Twitch since CraftAttack launch
As our PRO subscribers can browse for themselves, by using our Games tab we can take a look at the most-watched categories on Twitch since the CraftAttack launch. In the last three days, Minecraft climbed to fifth place among the most-watched categories on Twitch with
6.8M Hours Watched.
Three days since launch marked a 108% increase in watch time compared to the previous few days, and Minecraft ranked only 11th by Hours Watched in the three days prior to the CraftAttack return. In fact, by using our language filter to search for German-language content on Twitch, we can see that Minecraft is the most-watched category for German-speaking creators on Twitch over the past three days.

Language Statistics of Minecraft on Twitch, before and during CraftAttack launch
By looking through the two graphics which contain the language statistics for Minecraft in the week prior to and during the CraftAttack Season 11 launch, we can see a distinct change in German viewership as the 11th season of the collaborative project went live.
Since CraftAttack’s launch, German has risen to the third-most-popular language for Minecraft on Twitch, from fifth place in the week prior. For the last seven days, German also was the most popular language for Minecraft in terms of Peak Viewers, having recorded 56.6K PV. This is hugely impressive for the German community, as they managed to become the most popular language for the category on Twitch despite having roughly 35K fewer Unique Channels during the week compared to English.
The auto-generated pie graph for the Hours Watched Distribution of the two weeks also highlights that German-language broadcasts went from contributing 9% of the total HW to 14.8% during the week of CraftAttack’s return.
Another feature of the new Languages tab on the Games page is our users can browse the daily dynamics for various statistics, such as Hours Watched, Peak Viewers, and many more. Here, we can compare the viewership boost of the German CraftAttack event to other special events hosted in Minecraft.
As we can see, German is a less popular language compared to English and Spanish on Twitch, but German reached 130K Hours Watched in a single day thanks to the CraftAttack launch. However, this peak pales in comparison to the respective peaks of Japanese and Spanish broadcasts for Minecraft.
On September 25, Spanish-speaking broadcasts received over 1.35M Hours Watched in a single day, the most watch time received in a single day by any language across the previous three months. This was thanks to the Minecraft Extremo 2 event, which began on the day Spanish reached its 1.35M HW peak.
The event, hosted by Auronplay, saw 100 of the biggest creators in the Spanish-speaking community compete across two weeks to be the ultimate winner. Each participant had only 3 lives to play around with and once they lost all three they were eliminated. The event was one of the most-watched Minecraft events of the year, and AuronPlay received 99K Peak Viewers on the inaugural day.

Japanese also had a significant rise in viewership on August 22. This was thanks to a Minecraft Hardcore event which featured some well-known Japanese creators competing to beat the game without dying once. The event featured creators 加藤純一です, はんじょう, and おにや, and more.
加藤純一です gets an explosive surprise
Although the event was hugely popular and Japanese-speaking channels contributed 933K Hours Watched to the Minecraft category in a single day, it was not as popular as the Spanish-speaking event in September.
Comparing the CraftAttack Season 11 launch to other popular Minecraft events in Spanish and Japanese communities on Twitch, it is smaller in comparison. However, this does not undermine the effect that the CraftAttack launch has had on the Minecraft category’s viewership, and how the German community has come together to support both big and small creators alike.
