The 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards took place in Tokyo on May 25, honoring the top achievements in anime over the past year. This year’s ceremony featured 32 award categories, with winners chosen through open public voting. The event was widely streamed live, with coverage on Crunchyroll’s official channel and across the platforms of popular streamers and VTubers. 

To qualify for the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, anime titles or their respective seasons had to be released between October 2023 and December 2024. This year introduced several new categories, including Best Background Art, Best Isekai Anime, and Best VA Performance (Hindi), among others. The full list of categories was revealed on December 6, with public voting open from April 3 to April 14. Fans from around the globe cast a record-breaking 51 million votes to honor their favorite series, movies, and voice actors.

Presenters for the ceremony included Brazilian drag pop icon and musician Pabllo Vittar, Canadian actor Finn Wolfhard, and Japanese comedy duo Chocolate Planet, with Sony Group Corporation CEO and President Hiroki Totoki giving opening remarks.

Crunchyroll 2025 Anime Awards Winners

The coveted Anime of the Year award went to Solo Leveling from A-1 Pictures. Meanwhile, Ufotable’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc earned the title of Best Continuing Series. Dandadan led the pack with 22 nominations but walked away with just three wins. On the other hand, Solo Leveling dominated the ceremony, taking home 9 out of the 13 awards it was nominated for.

  • Best Italian Voice Artist Performance (Ilaria Pellicone / Kyomoto – Look Back)

  • Best Latin Spanish Voice Artist Performance (Miguel Ángel Leal / Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2).


The 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards livestream hit a peak of over 34,000 viewers on Crunchyroll’s official YouTube channel — setting a new record for the platform. The previous high was 31,500 peak viewers during last year’s event.

Among the streamers, vtuber ironmouse hosted the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards livestream as an official event partner and even appeared as a virtual guest. Her Twitch stream drew a peak audience of over 13,400 viewers. Many other creators covered the ceremony as well, but without airing the official broadcast. Instead, they shared their reactions to the voting results and engaged with fans by discussing the winners live.
