Not only was the awards show setting viewership-related records, but the 2024 edition also experienced a record number of votes from fans voting for their favourites to take home an award; more than 34M votes for recorded by Crunchyroll, with Latin America, Europe, and North America contributing the largest proportion of votes.
One key difference in this year’s award show was the lack of a Japanese-language broadcasting option. For the 2023 iteration, Japanese was the only broadcast language apart from English, and it contributed roughly a third of the event’s total watch time. This year, no Japanese-language broadcasts were available, however, the event was opened up to community casters and co-streams in 2024, which heavily affected the viewership for the show.

Crunchyroll’s official YouTube channel was the largest source of concurrent viewers, having reached 31.5K Peak Viewers. The English-language broadcast the was the most popular option for fans, although community casters remained critical for the event’s record-setting viewership.
Gigguk is a British streamer and content creator who has been active for almost two decades. The creator is well known for his content focusing on anime, and he even presented an award at the 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards. In recent years, he has become most well-known for his podcast Trash Taste, which he hosts alongside other content creators CDawgVA and TheAn1meMan. The Brit reached 13.5K Peak Viewers while co-streaming the event, making this broadcast his second-most-popular stream ever.
Another friend of CDawg’s, VTuber ironmouse was the third-most popular broadcast option for the awards show, having reached 9K Peak Viewers. The female content creator is one of the most popular VTubers on Twitch and consistently reaches extremely high viewership. Although her broadcast of the event was popular in comparison to other streams of the awards show, it was low by her own standards, as she received 32.6K PV for a special 3D concert stream hosted only the day before the awards show.
Nicewigg was the remaining community member of this top 5 ranking, as he earned 6.4K Peak Viewers for the awards show. The American streamer is most well-known for his Apex Legends esports broadcasts, and his audience was not entirely receptive to the anime-related stream. He started his broadcast streaming an Apex Legends esports watch party, for which he received 10.5K PV. He reached 6.4K PV while switching from Apex Legends to anime, but his viewership only decreased as the event continued.
Finally, the official Twitch channel of Crunchyroll was the final broadcaster of this ranking, with 6.2K Peak Viewers. The Twitch channel held decently strong viewership throughout the entire awards show, but it was unable to compete with the YouTube Live broadcast, which appealed to a much wider audience.

The 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards were by far the most popular iteration of the awards show ever. The 2024 iteration recorded an 182% increase in peak viewership compared to the the 2021 event, which was the second-most popular edition on record.
The huge growth in popularity of the awards show was thanks to a combination of attention from community members and co-streams, as well as audience growth for the main official broadcasts. Although the event experienced strong growth, the lack of a Japanese-language broadcast is odd for an event which previously featured such strong viewership from this demographic.
Excluding Japan, Crunchyroll covered all bases. Official Crunchyroll-branded YouTube channels broadcasted the event for Brazilian-Portuguese, French, Spanish, German, and Italian audiences. The 2025 iteration of the awards show might still have more room to grow, especially if the event organisers have a Japanese-language broadcast ready to go.
