French content creator Michou's recent creation, Dancing With the Internet Stars, aired on Twitch and TF+ on March 9. It ended up becoming a huge success, both in terms of his Twitch channel and among overall live broadcasts on the platform over the past week.
This dance competition is based on the popular TF1’s Danse avec les stars (Dancing with the Stars) show where Michou had participated in 2021. In fact, he and his dancing partner — dancer Elsa Bois — went all the way to the finals, where they finished third behind Tayc/Fauve Hautot and Bilal Hassani/Jordan Mouillerac.
In fact, their bond was so strong that Michou and Elsa Bois ended up getting together and remain a happy couple to this day. The latter even went back for Season 12 of the show as a dancer, participating alongside actor Thomas Da Costa as they became the last pair to be eliminated outside of the podium places.
Michou, meanwhile, used his success at the dance show to up his content creation game and become one of the most followed YouTubers in France. His success reached such a stage that he left Webedia — a French company specializing in online media — in September 2022, ending a two-and-a-half-year association to set up his own studio at his residence. Come March 2023, he joined Twitch, where he has been steadily growing and building a solid fan base that has eventually culminated in hosting his own dance competition.
The live stream of this show became Michou’s most successful ever on Twitch, hitting 802.5K Hours Watched and 403K Peak Viewers in about three hours of airtime. It finished in first place on both tables, doing 102.6% and 37.8% better, respectively, while also attracting the most Average Viewers of any video on his channel.
Getting back to Dancing With the Internet Stars, it saw six content creators — well known on YouTube, Twitch, and social networks like TikTok — join a professional dancer each in their quest to be crowned the champions. The pairs of participants are:
- Domingo & Ines Vandamme
- Nico_Tine & Elsa Bois
- BagheraJones & Christian Millette
- Natoo & Anthony Colette
- Gaelle Garcia Diaz & Jordan Mouillerac
- LeBouseuh & Alizee Bois
The jurors — Jean-Marc Genereux, Chris Marques, Fauve Hautot, and Mel Charlot — were joined by a special judge for the weekend, Carlito. Meanwhile, Michou served as the host alongside friend Doigby. Intriguingly, the contestants had a particularly short training session time of less than a week to rehearse with their accomplished partners and get ready for the first episode.
The live broadcast also ended as the second-most popular live stream on the Amazon-owned streaming service over the past week. Only Ibai's presentation video of the fourth edition of his highly lauded boxing event, La Velada del Año I, ended above it.
It also helped Michou gain a whopping 66K followers and 712 new subscriptions as interest among audiences to see who would last and who would be shown the exit was high. At the end of the episode, the two Bois sisters and their partners were eliminated, with many getting thoroughly by Gaelle Garcia Diaz and Jordan Mouillerac's performance.
The next episode will be broadcast live on March 16 from 9 PM CET on Michou's Twitch channel and TF1. If the response to the maiden episode was anything to go by, there will be lots of attention paid to these live streams as well, so fans can stay updated with happenings on Stream Charts.
