French content creator and Twitch streamer Michou debuted his new Dancing with the Internet Stars (Danse Avec les Stars d’Internet, original French) on March 9. The show went live on Twitch and TF1+, reaching over 400K concurrent viewers and becoming one of the most popular streams of the beginning of March. Now, the show’s second episode has received hundreds of thousands of viewers again and become Twitch’s most popular broadcast of the week.
As we covered in our previous article, Michou appeared on the Dancing with the Stars show in 2021 and used these appearances to boost his content creation career. He joined Twitch a year ago and has since become one of France’s top content creators. The debut episode of his new internet-focused series reached 403K PV, becoming his most popular Twitch stream to date.
The second episode of the new show was not able to outperform the viewership peaks realised by the debut episode, but still viewership remained high for the second episode. The two-and-a-half hour livestream garnered 656.2K Hours Watched and 271.5K Average Viewers were present for the Twitch broadcast.
The show is also available on the French streaming platform TF1+, which likely generates sizeable viewership for the show. TF1+ has been licensed to use the Dancing with the Stars format in France, and France is currently the world’s only country to create a version of the show that focuses on internet celebrities. Other regions will perhaps be looking at creating their version of dancing with internet stars, as the second episode reached 334.5K Peak Viewers on Twitch alone.
Although the second episode received fewer peak concurrent viewers than the debut episode, it managed a more significant feat by becoming the most popular Twitch broadcast of the entire week.
Michou’s second broadcast of the new show dominated Twitch with its 335K PV. Although it managed this with fewer PV than the first episode, the week was still rife with competition and highly-watched broadcasts. Gaules and Tarik are two of Twitch’s most popular creators when it comes to esports community casting, and they are both in the midst of Major events for their respective esports disciplines.
Gaules received 185K PV for a Brazilian derby at the ongoing PGL Copenhagen 2024 Major and tarik received 160K PV while supporting Sentinels in their match against Team Heretics at the VCT 2024 Masters Madrid tournament.
Two of the world’s leading content creators ibai and Jynxzi also appeared in this ranking. Jynxzi appeared multiple times as he receives such high viewership regularly, but his best broadcast recorded 155K PV as he collaborated with professional Rainbow Six Siege player Beaulo. Ibai joined tarik and Gaules on the esports community casting train, receiving 125K PV for his coverage of his team Mad Lions KOI playing against Karmine Corp in the LEC.
Essentially, the week of March 11 on Twitch was dominated by esports community casting. Many of the top broadcasts of the week featured famous creators doing what they do best, and receiving hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers. But, Michou stood above all of these creators, as he mixed traditional media with the internet and content creation spheres.
Dancing with the Internet Stars is one of Twitch’s new most popular weekly shows, and it showcases the power of combining traditional media with new-wave internet personalities and content creators. Michou has been enjoying steady growth as a result of these two first episodes, having earned roughly 200K new Twitch Followers since the beginning of March. If this keeps up, he may soon break into Twitch’s top 5 most-followed French creators.
