One of the most music-filled weekends of the year wrapped up in Basel, Switzerland, where the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 final was held on May 17. Artists from 26 countries took the stage, while millions tuned in for the grand finale. But despite the excitement, the event fell short of breaking any livestreaming records. Streams Charts has released a breakdown of this year’s Eurovision viewership statistics.

The viewership data for Eurovision Song Contest 2025 comes from Esports Charts, a company that has been tracking analytics for every Eurovision event since 2017. Livestreaming today goes far beyond gaming and esports — it now includes tech expos, film award shows, major sporting events, fashion shows, concerts, and a wide variety of entertainment broadcasts. We track viewership data for many of the industry's most high-profile events. Interested in the numbers? Get in touch with our analytics team.

Austrian singer JJ took home the Eurovision 2025 crown with his hit “Wasted Love”, which was met with enthusiasm from both the jury and the audience. Israeli singer Yuval Raphael secured second place, while Estonian rapper Tommy Cash finished third. As in previous years, the final results were determined by a combination of jury scores and public votes.

One of the standout moments of the final was the razor-thin margin between second and third place: just a single point separated the two. Another talking point was the dramatic split between the jury and audience opinions on Switzerland’s Zoë Më. While the jury awarded her an impressive 214 points — second only to JJ — the public gave her zero.

Still, the host nation's singer didn’t leave empty-handed: Zoë Më received the prestigious Marcel Bezençon Award for Best Composer. The award is named in honor of the founder of the Eurovision Song Contest. It’s presented in three categories: the Press Award, Artistic Award, and Composers Award. The award was first introduced at Eurovision 2002.

Eurovision 2025 Viewership Statistics

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 was livestreamed exclusively on the event’s official YouTube channel. Combined, the two semifinals and the grand final generated nearly 7 million hours of watch time. The streams drew an average audience of close to 750,000 viewers. Compared to last year's contest, the HW total was virtually unchanged, but the average number of viewers was down 7%.

During the finalists’ performances, the livestream audience on YouTube ranged from 970,000 to 1.18 million viewers. Peak viewership was reached during the set by Italian singer Lucio Corsi, who performed Volevo Essere Un Duro, drawing 1,186,127 concurrent viewers. Viewership continued to climb as voting began, ultimately peaking at 1,417,497 viewers during the winner announcement.

In many countries, Eurovision 2025 was broadcast exclusively on local television networks, while the official livestream was available only on Eurovision YouTube channel. Meanwhile, numerous community casters followed the event by offering live commentary without showing the video.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 recorded the fourth-highest peak livestream viewership in the contest’s history. Compared to last year, peak numbers dropped by 8.5%. The most-watched edition remains Eurovision 2022, which drew an impressive 1,817,692 concurrent viewers. That record was partly due to the event being streamed not only on YouTube, but also on TikTok, though in recent years, organizers have stepped away from livestreaming the contest on that platform.

Most popular Eurovision Contests by Peak Viewers

In recent years, Eurovision Song Contest livestreams have consistently pulled in around 1.5 million peak viewers. Among other music events, Bad Bunny en concierto (1.55 million peak viewers) and the 2020 Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos International Final (1.51 million) have reached comparable numbers. So far in 2025, no other major music event has come close. For instance, the Eurovision 2025 final in Basel drew three times as many viewers as the 67th GRAMMY Awards livestreams, and an astounding 17 times more than Red Bull Batalla 2025: 5 Vidas – 20 Years Edition

Eurovision is one of the most high-profile entertainment events streamed live, consistently drawing a massive global audience. In terms of viewership, it outshines many other major events in the entertainment space. For instance, the 2025 final in Basel attracted more viewers than Samsung Galaxy Unpacked January 2025, where the company revealed its latest flagship smartphone. Eurovision 2025 also outperformed popular gaming events like the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2025 and State of Play April 2025, where developers debuted upcoming game titles. Compared to this year’s esports tournaments, the music contest also outperformed IEM Katowice 2025, the biggest international Counter-Strike event held so far in 2025.

Eurovision 2026 will be the 70th edition of the iconic music competition. Following JJ’s win, the event is set to take place in May in Austria, his home country. The organizers will announce the exact dates and host city at a later time.
