The Fall Guys battle royale is getting a second breath on Twitch. On June 21, the game was released on Xbox and Nintendo platforms, and also switched to a free-to-play model, causing an immediate large increase in its player base. The game’s servers went down from time to time due to the influx of new users — while the developers compensated for such unsatisfactory moments by giving away free skins. Along with the influx of new players, the popularity of the Fall Guys category on Twitch has also grown. In the two weeks before the battle royale transitioned to a free-to-play model, the Fall Guys category had about 4.8M Hours Watched, the total number of channels reached 350, and the category had up to 224K Peak Viewers. The game itself ranked 34th among all Twitch categories.
After June 21, the situation changed dramatically. In two weeks, the Fall Guys category of Twitch had its Hours Watched increase by almost 500% (to 28.7M). At the same time, the number of channels increased to 7.1K, and the total Peak Viewers increased to 417K. The game climbed to the sixth spot among the categories on Twitch. This was a huge leap, but it was still a little short of reaching the game’s all-time best performance during the summer of 2020 when its popularity peaked.
Fall Guys is consistently found in the top 10 categories on Twitch after becoming f2p
It's fair to say that this leap in terms of viewership is not only due to embracing the new game distribution model and providing bonuses for newcomers. Last but not least, this was also made possible thanks to the show events with top streamers from Europe, North America, and Brazil. The organizers of Twitch Rivals and Amar Bruch Invitational successfully took advantage of the situation and also helped to somewhat expand the audience of the Twitch category.
In the first days of July, four Fall Guys show tournaments took place nearly simultaneously. Participating in these were top content creators from different regions. The European Twitch Rivals Fall Guys Season 1 Showdown featured such stars as как ibai, Tumblurr, MrKeroro10, TheGrefg, karchez, and more. All of them broadcast the event on their personal channels, due to which they generated a total of 614K Hours Watched. Peak Viewers across all broadcasts amounted to 228.6K, while the Average Viewers indicator was around the mark of 180K.
Among all the streamers, ibai attracted the largest audience: his channel generated 187K Hours Watched and attracted 81.5K Peak Viewers.
A similar tournament was held among streamers from AmericaTwitch Rivals Fall Guys Season 1 Showdown North America featured top local creators – including xQc, LIRIK, DisguisedToast, buddha, Maya, and more. Broadcasting the event on their channels, they generated in total about 707.2K Hours Watched and 203.2K Peak Viewers. The greatest contribution to this result was made by xQc — the Canadian brought the tournament almost half of the above figures.
It should be noted that the European Twitch Rivals attracted more viewers than the American one. The latter was ahead only in terms of total Hours Watched, but it also lasted an hour longer.
The Twitch Rivals Fall Guys Season 1 Showdown Brazil show tournament took place on the same dates as the European and American events but was significantly inferior to them in terms of audience coverage. Without Gaules and other Brazilian superstars, the participants were only able to generate 46.2K Hours Watched. The best community streamers of the tournament gathered 2-2.5K Peak Viewers on their channels.
In addition to the Twitch Rivals series, the participants of the Fall Guys Amar Bruch Invitational (which also took place in early July) tried to breathe new life into Fall Guys as well. It was a special event for content creators from Germany — where casters such as eliasn97, MontanaBlack88, and other local stars competed with each other and streamed on their channels.

Interestingly, the German tournament surpassed the Twitch Rivals events in terms of all viewership figures: 838.2K Hours Watched, 238.6K Peak Viewers, and 193K Average Viewers. With these figures, the Fall Guys Amar Bruch Invitational entered the top 6 most popular and most watched Fall Guys tournaments and also became the leader among all game events in 2022.
