What is Control Resonant, and how has it done so far?
Also labeled as Control 2, Control Resonant is a sequel to the 2019 game Control. This action-adventure title is developed and published by Remedy Entertainment, the name behind popular franchises like Max Payne and Alan Wake. It is available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, with a macOS release scheduled for later in 2026.
Instead of playing as Jesse Faden from the original Control, players control her brother, Dylan Faden, as the game moves out of the indoor confines of the Oldest House and into an open, warped version of Manhattan taken over by paranormal threats. The sequel also shifts more heavily into an action-adventure style while continuing the original's story.
Control 2 has so far been received very positively by players, even becoming Remedy's most successful Steam launch on record by peaking at over 34,000 concurrent players. The game also hit first place on the Steam bestseller chart within a day of its release, with the piracy community also deciding to support Remedy Entertainment.

In just four days, Control Resonant broadcasts accrued 2.17 million watch hours across both Twitch and Kick, with Twitch alone generating 2.12 million HW. The title also reached a healthy 1.2K peak channels. Overall, between September 24 and 27, it ended among Twitch's 15 most-watched and most popular games.

Most crucially, the second instalment averaged almost twice the number of viewers, showing that a bigger audience remained engaged for longer.
On its release day, Control 2 was among the Amazon-owned platform's top 15 games by watch time and peak concurrent viewership. In fact, it outdid more prominent titles like Valheim, Rocket League, and Rust in terms of watch hours accumulated on this day.

Control 2 has done well in the first few days of its release while also giving hope to fans for Remedy Entertainment's immediate future. With a slew of top releases like EA Sports FC 27 and WARDOGS coinciding with Control Resonant's launch, it remains to be seen where it ends up on the list of the most successful new video games in 2026.
