Forbes has published a list of the Top 50 creators of 2022. The Top includes TikTok and Instagram stars, Spotify podcast creators, as well as popular Twitch and YouTube streamers and bloggers. Streams Charts has highlighted the latter in this article.
First of all, we should say that the authors of the Forbes article used their own formula for determining the ranking number of content creators. In order to do this, they took into account the creator's revenue for 2021, the total number of subscribers on social networks and streaming services, the level of audience activity, as well as initiatives and successes in creating their own business and promoting their brand.
MrBeast — 1st place in the Forbes ranking
First place in the Forbes ranking goes to the popular American youtuber Jimmy 'MrBeast' Donaldson. According to the authors of the article, his revenue for 2021 was $54 million, and his total audience reach on YouTube and social networks exceeds 162 million people. Donaldson is one of the biggest stars of YouTube entertainment, whose videos get tens or even hundreds of millions of views. Most of his content consists of charity and pranks on friends. Now it is MrBeast who is setting the trends for entertainment videos on the platform. Many other content creators are trying to emulate him, but not all of them succeed.
xQc — 12th place in the Forbes ranking
The Canadian Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel ranks 12th in the Forbes ranking. His 2021 revenue reached $8 million and his total audience reach was 13.5 million, according to the authors of the article. XQc is a former e-athlete who saw the peak of his gaming career in the Overwatch League. In March 2018, he left the professional scene to focus on streaming. XQc was voted Twitch's Most Watched Streamer in 2022 and 2021. He currently holds his status as one of the most popular content creators on the platform, drawing tens of thousands of viewers each time he streams. His broadcasts are not limited to Overwatch or other esports disciplines — he often hosts Just Chatting and Slots streams, as well as broadcasts of popular games like Rust, Elden Ring, and GTA V.
Ninja — 19th place in the Forbes ranking
The American Twitch streamer Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins is 19th in the ranking. According to the Forbes authors, he made $12.5 million in 2021 and the total number of his subscribers was 63.8 million people. Ninja began his career as an e-athlete back in high school — he played in such disciplines as Halo, H1Z1 Battle Royale, Call of Duty, PUBG, Fortnite, and other shooters. Over time Ninja switched to streaming, and his Fortnite broadcasts made him a Twitch star in 2017/2018. Since then, he is still the leader in the number of subscribers on the service — his channel has more than 18.3 million followers. Interestingly, on September 1, Blevins announced that he is taking a break from streaming because "he needs to take a break." At the same time, the streamer left social media, and the "Partner" tag was removed from his Twitch channel.
Shroud — 37th in the Forbes ranking
The Canadian streamer Michael shroud Grzesiek ranks 37th in the Forbes ranking. His revenue last year was about $2 million, and his total audience reach exceeded 19 million subscribers. Like many other Twitch stars, Grzesiek found his first popularity as an e-athlete and CS:GO player. He spent most of his time playing for Cloud9, one of the most popular clubs in North America. In 2018, shroud ended his career to become a PUBG streamer. Back then, his broadcasts drew tens of thousands of viewers, and he was the most popular Battle Royale streamer for a long time. Later, Gjesik continued to strengthen his position on Twitch with broadcasts of Apex Legends and Call of Duty, and lately he switched completely to Valorant. In July 2022, shroud announced his return to the professional scene as a member of Team Sentinels, where he still plays to this day.
Other popular bloggers and content creators on YouTube also made it to the Forbes ranking. Among them are: Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, Unspeakable, KSI, Jake Paul and others. You can find the full Forbes ranking on the magazine's official page.
