There are lots of developments happening in the Kings and Queens leagues, with the most recent one sure to leave fans salivating. On March 7, the official website of the hybrid exhibition league revealed that the highly-anticipated Kings World Cup will see its first edition held in Mexico.
The site added that the Kings World Cup 2024 will bring together fans of Kings competitions around the world. On the back of kicking off the Americas iteration of the highly popular Kings League around a month back, the creators disclosed this massive news to much fanfare.
Organizers added that the competition will feature 32 teams — ten from Spain, ten from the Americas, and twelve guests from different countries. Most crucially, it was revealed that the first two wild cards have been handed to Brazilian sides, with one of the owners being none other than megastar Twitch streamer Gaules.
The renowned Counter-Strike 2 content creator will preside over a team called G3X FC. Meanwhile, helming the other team — named FURIA FC — will be content creator Allan, better known as Oestagiario, and futsal legend Falcao. Both will be supported by the PSG and Brazil football star Neymar.
The Kings World Cup 2024 will be held from May 26 to June 8 and will begin with the Swiss format where 40 matches will be played. It will be followed by a knockout phase (Round of 16 to the Grand Final). In addition to emerging as the world champions this year, the winner will take home a nice trophy and a million dollars.
Gaules' presence will benefit the tournament
The influencer is one of the most well-known names from Twitch globally, with his live broadcasts, especially of Counter-Strike 2, usually attracting millions. That is why his presence as a co-caster for the game's events would usually mean high audience numbers, especially among Brazillian-Portuguese viewers.
Gaules' popularity made him the second-most watched influencer on the purple platform for 2023 and the most-viewed name from his country. Moreover, his fame ensured that his Twitch team, Tribo Gaules, ended in ninth on the Hours Watched table for last year.
Most importantly, he has branched out to other genres, including Sports, regularly, meaning his audience is not only from the legendary Valve shooter. This would mean that his live streams of matches at the upcoming Kings World Cup 2024 should attract new viewers to a league that has already made waves on various streaming services despite recent drops in numbers.
With the concept of this seven-a-side football league established by Gerard Piqué and Ibai proving hugely popular, there is no doubt the upcoming tournament will be a massive success.
