2022 was a great year for gamers, with many highly acclaimed titles being released. Games such as Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarök, Stray, or Cult of the Lamb, were quick to take over Twitch. In just one week after their release, all these games were among some of the most played titles on the platform, and many of them still are.
Recently, two newly released and heavily anticipated games took over Twitch: they were launched together, have the same gameplay, and basically are an extension of each other. We are talking about Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which had 10.8K Peak channels streaming them, and 144.9K Average Viewers tuning into streams regularly, in the first week after launch on November 18th. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are open-world RPG games, that allow players to explore a new region of the Pokémon world, which is filled with never seen Pokémons, that the players have to try and catch. Streamers were eager to play the game, and viewers were equally eager to watch it.

The game was quick to become one of the most popular titles on Twitch, as in its first week it was the third most watched game on the platform, ahead of games such as Valorant, League of Legends, and GTA V. Amongst the most popular games, the title occupies the fourth place, with 315K Peak Viewers. That’s exactly what you would expect from the game which sold over 10 million copies in just three days, becoming Nintendo biggest launch of all time.
As mentioned above, we had a lot of streamers broadcasting the game, which had a massive impact on the title achieving great viewership results in its first week. Japanese streamer 加藤純一です, who is a variety streamer, was the most popular streamer to broadcast it, and his viewers watched him play the game for 856K hours.

It’s worth noting that the majority of the most popular streamers to broadcast the game are from either Japan or Spain. This also shows that the game was popular with Western and Eastern viewers alike.
If we take a closer look at the last three launched Pokémon games, and the audience they managed to reach in their first week, we can see that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet was the second most popular one, only behind Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which was released early this year.
Having so many streamers playing the game, and being able to captivate viewers from all across the globe, helped Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have the highest number of AV at 144.9K, and HW at 24 million, of the last three titles of the series. This further proves that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet has been a massive success since its release, despite the heavy criticism it received from many players.

Critics have been praising the game, but most players have a different opinion about the title. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet has a great story, but the game has way too many bugs, that interfere with the experience of the player. Despite that, it still became the second most popular Pokémon game of all time on Twitch with 315K PV. Many content creators also enjoyed the game, with the title having 10.8K channels streaming it simultaneously. This settled a new record for the Pokémon franchise, dethroning Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
As mentioned above, the game has been receiving mixed opinions, but there is no denying it's one of the most popular games on Twitch right now. Streamers from all around the globe have been streaming the game, and viewers are also very curious about the new Nintendo Switch title.
