Thousands of viewers tuned into Timmy "iiTzTimmy" An’s Apex Legends stream yesterday to witness the rare collaboration of the popular content creator with American rapper Post Malone.
Malone, who is known for his love for Apex Legends, agreed to play duos with one of the biggest names in Apex Legends scene after admitting in an interview earlier that he was not succeeding at the game. Timmy, known for his mechanical skill, announced the stream one day ahead, causing a wave of hype across the Apex Legends community.
Although the highly anticipated stream was quite a sensation for the Apex community, it wasn’t such a big deal in terms of viewership. In 10 hours of Air Time, iiTzTimmy’s broadcast generated 264.5K Hours Watched, while peaking at 32.4K concurrent viewers. The stream attracted 25.14K Average Viewers.
While this was an increase in viewership for Timmy, other Apex streamers such as kato_junichi0817 or TSM_ImperialHal reach higher concurrent viewership regularly.
Besides Apex Legends, the 21-year-old Twitch star from the US streams a variety of games, including VALORANT, CS:GO and Escape from Tarkov. He’s been streaming on Twitch since 2018 and started gaining traction with the rise of Apex Legends by the end of 2020. Formerly an Apex Legends player for North American esports organization Golden Guardians, iiTzTimmy has currently more than 1.6 million followers on Twitch.
Despite having an official Twitch channel with 400K followers, Malone created a new account for this occasion, which gained over 62.6K followers during the stream and has now climbed to 70K. His broadcast accumulated 107.2K Hours Watched and peaked at 15.6K concurrent viewers. On average, 10.8K viewers tuned in to Malone’s stream of duos with iiTzTimmy.
This wasn’t the first time Malone has appeared in a streamer’s broadcast. The famous musician, who’s also a co-owner of the North American esports organization Envy Gaming, used to stream Call of Duty: World War II in the past, playing with popular streamer Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop.
Other hip-hop musicians with interests in esports include Canadian rapper Drake, who funded 100 Thieves in 2018, American rapper Offset who invested in FaZe Clan in 2019, as well as rappers Logic and Pusha T who acquired the Chaos Esports Club in 2020.
