Kick in January 2025: New platform records for watch time, average viewers

Kick in January 2025: New platform records for watch time, average viewers
Share:

After completing a momentous two years in December 2024, Kick has started the new year strongly, seeing green in all its crucial metrics. This included two monthly records, with the first being a new high of 281 million Hours Watched (HW) thanks to increased activity among existing and new streamers.

This also means it hit a new platform milestone for monthly Average Viewers (AV), crossing the 400,000 mark for the first time. What helped was the influx of influencers joining the Stake-backed platform, encouraged by its more lenient broadcasting rules and more lucrative revenue-sharing model. After all, Kick notched a 17% growth in the total number of active channels last month, its best number since July 2023.

The highest jump percentage-wise was through its 1.45m Peak Viewers (PV), a rise of 21% from the final month of last year. This increase was caused by coverage of the Kings League, the highly popular media football tournament birthed in Spain.

As seen in our recap of its first two yearsMiddle East and North Africa (MENA) and Latin American (LATAM) streamers have emerged as the livestreaming services biggest content creators. This was more or less reiterated in these January 2025 rankings, with Spanish-speaking streamers being especially active at the start of the year.

While Just Chatting continued to lead the way, it was the IRL segment that saw a big boost, led by a 76% rise in its month-on-month watch time. This growth was driven by many of the livestreaming service's top influencers travelling during the month and sharing their experiences with fans.

Many of the other games and categories that usually make these top ten lists appeared again, including Slots & CasinoGrand Theft Auto V (GTA), and PUBG Mobile. The Kings League, which saw a few events happen in January 2025, made the leaderboard after accruing 8.63 million HW, a massive increment of 741% in its MoM watch time.

Colombian star Fernando "WestCOL" Alvarez continued to be the most-watched channel on Kick, with his 6.83m HW representing a solid jump of 53% in his monthly watch time. He was joined on the second rung of the podium by another creator who had a big stake in the Kings World Cup Nations 2025, Ilyas "Ilyas Elmaliki" Elmaliki.

Maher "maherco" Sultaneh and Mofareh "drb7h" al asiri made it three Arab streamers in the top five of these standings, with Peruvian megastar Andy "ElZeein" Merino rounding it off. The majority of their content was focused on IRL streams, although Saudi Arabia's drb7h spent most of his time playing Respect RP (GTA). He ended as its most-watched creator for January 2025, playing a big role in the segment finishing within its top ten games and categories list.

Aside from the other usual suspects from the LATAM and MENA communities, Paul "Ice Poseidon" Denino and Felix "xQc" Lengyel popped up to represent English viewers on this leaderboard. The former has been busy travelling across Japan since the new year while the Canadian former Overwatch pro mostly played Marvel Rivals, the newest sensation among video games in livestreaming.

Moving to the most popular channels in the first month of 2025, a lot of faces from the above list reappear here, with many of their streams coming from Kings League-related tournaments. The South American trio of Mernuel "Mernuel" Melgan, Diego "Diealis" Aliaga, and Daniel "Bananirou" Cao deserve mentions as their entertaining content in categories like Just Chatting, Special Events and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas helped them make it here.

There was a new queen on Kick to start off the new year, with Puerto Rico's Alondra "Alondrissa" Michelle topping the female watch time list as one of the only two names to cross the one million HW mark. The other woman to do so was fellow Just Chatting creator and occasional gamer Sandra "Sandraskins" Skins, making it a Spanish-speaking top two.

The usual topper on these female lists, Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa, could only come third, as her monthly HW rise of 18% was nowhere near the improvements witnessed by the top two. She was joined by three more Just Chatting streamers on this list in the form of Siomani "Demisux" Loarca, another top-ten regular, Rainelis "Rainelissss" Rosario and Mary "Accamary" Markova.

Among the other names here, the genres they delved into varied a lot. These influencers were busy broadcasting in the IRL, Just Sleeping, Other, Watch Party and Kings League categories, with the first gaming-related streamers only being seen at the 14th spot.
