The greatest live content is still to be produced.
The greatest streamers are still yet to do their first stream.” - Eddie

Kick has been making waves in the live-streaming community this year. They branded themselves as an open and unprejudiced platform where all creators can live-stream themselves to their fans without worrying about the perceived strictness of a global platform like Twitch or YouTube. In contrast to other major streaming outlets, Kick has seemingly focused their community decisions on what is good for streamers, rather than what is best for profit or the company.
Kick debuted showing off their plan to give streamers 95% of their subscription revenue, significantly more than platforms like Twitch, and 100% of tips streamers receive from their viewers. Building on top of these ideas to give streamers more financial independence, they announced their Kick Creator Incentive Program, which will help streamers focus less on their financials and more on delivering content.
The program is hopefully going to become open for all streamers, no matter big or small, and is currently being tested by a curated list of streamers and creators. The idea: paying streamers an hourly wage and giving them the financial independence that smaller streamers lack in other major competitors. Kick star and advisor Trainwreckstv announced on Twitter at the beginning of this year that the program would pay streamers for their time, rather than relying on the generosity of their fanbase.
The program seeks to add onto Kick’s already lucrative revenue streams for creators and reward streamers for their time, whether 1 viewer or 100K viewers. The creator program functions on a simple pay formula, streamers are paid based on:
-
Number of hours streamed
-
Kick’s advertising CPMs (flat-rate)
-
Average viewers
-
Viewer demographics and engagement
