Worlds 2022 Grand Final gathered a huge audience of fans at the screens and set many esports records in terms of viewership statistics. One of the most iconic achievements of the tournament was that it helped League of Legends renew its peak Twitch viewership, and two major channels of the tournament updated their personal records for the audience.
During the decisive match, LoL's Twitch audience reached 3.1 million concurrent viewers, 100,000 more than the game's previous record set a year ago at Worlds 2021. According to this metric, League of Legends ranks second among all categories of the platform. The lead is held by the Special Events section, which hosted a record-breaking ibai (interestingly, he was the guest co-caster of the Worlds 2022 finals) broadcast, during which the platform reached its largest concurrent audience of all time.
Traditionally, English and Korean have become the main languages of Worlds coverage. And it is significant that the key channels of each of the languages set new personal records for simultaneous audience. Thus, the English-language channel Riot Games attracted 990.2K Peak Viewers, and the audience of LCK_Korea reached 692.6K Peak Viewers.
